 I've been meaning to try this liner method on my GSO-10. Very nice! Also, I recommend your GSO-4.1 modification, the dropped heel in particular, to EVERYONE - it is exactly what i would have done to my GSO-4.1 had I not needed to sell it for my fence fund. The handle is just a bit short and flares out uncomfortably at the pommel, it really needs that heel-drop to improve versatility. Too bad your GSO-10 scales don't quite match the pattern of the other two ;) nice collection

The rubber liners are so easy it took ten minutes to complete and makes a huge difference.
Just cut the rubber a little larger, drill the screw and lanyard holes, shove it back together and trim the excess with a razor blade...Done
As for the scales on the 10, I'm thinking of contacting Guy about a set with the new pattern.

note the difference in blade profiles. I like them both but love the less of a drop point on the 6

hope my 10 and 3.5 will get here soon

Nice comparison photos, I can see the difference.
Thanks for taking photos of them and posting.

The GSO5.1 and the GSO4.1 are good to go as far as edge profiles right out of the box. I have early serial numbers of both. The 4.1 is m390 and the 5.1 is in 3v. I am comparing their initial edges to 5 Busses and kin, and a becker. There was no reprofiling needed.

Also, the 4.1 and the 5.1 have both been taken through army SERE by different students and performed great the entire time and were absolutely subjected to abuse. Best knives out there.

Anxiously waiting for my 3.5 to arrive, which will kick my PM2 out of the EDC setup. Can't wait to get my hands on it, slim, compact with the size just slightly larger than a necker, PERFECT IMO.

Still deciding should I save up for a 5.0 for another 4.1 in 3V. (Currently have a 4.1 in M390 but once it gets dull it takes a ridicules amount of time to sharpen without diamonds.)
Really dig the 5.0 full tang opposed to the 4.1 skele tang but prefer the blade length of the 4.1.....arrghhhhh can't decide.

BTW, GSO's are definitely the sharpest I've own and seen of the box, all three of mine GSO's came hanging TP slicing sharp.

I had and sold, just couldn't get used to the lack of a handle and couldn't find a niche for it. I am looking forward to trying the Necker II when mine arrives. I made a mock-up and compared to the ESEE Izula. I may find that these "ring" knives just don't suit me, but I'm giving them a chance as an investment in growing Survive! Knives. You could always spring for one to try it out, and if you don't like it, post it on the BF exchange. Here is the Izula against the Necker II mock-up:

I too have never felt comfortable with 'handle-less' small blades, I prefer a secure feel of something within my palm.
I do have a small Doug Ritter RSK Mk5 (so called neck knife) of which I corded the small skeletonized handle, it fits nicely with better purchase in my hand.
Re: "ring" knives, I only own one, a Brous S.S. Flipper which because of the design ergonomics of the handle works well with the 'ring'/hole in the blade.

How thin are the edges on these knives? Are they good to go or are they uselessly thick like Swamp Rat, Scrapyard, Becker etc...and need to be fixed right out of the box?

The 6 and 7 I have are good to go. Outstanding edges on them, will push cut through paper with almost zero effort. Some of the best edges I've ever seen on a new knife, factory or custom.

I just received my 6 a couple weeks ago. The fit and finish is very nice. I'm impressed with the ergonomics and balance. The jimping is course but not sharp. It's perfectly located for my size hand (large). I have not used it yet so I can't comment on much else.

These knives are popular right now. I'm in on the next batch of 4.1s in 20cv. Hopefully they won't sell out in an hour like last time. Sheesh...

3.5 ought to be coming up sometime soon (within the month if I remember correctly). Can't wait to get mine.

I emailed last Friday to get an update about the November 12th 4.1 order. I still haven't received any response though. Will update if I hear anything.

Update:

I just received an email back, they are still waiting for 4.1 sheaths to arrive. Should be in tomorrow and orders will be shipped...

Hope that helps for anyone who bought one
