I got the release e-mail about an hour ago. You have to be kidding me, I can't even finish my dinner... Some versions are sold-out already. To the best of my knowledge, as of this writing, the jimpless version is still in-stock.

No 20CV this release. Only 3V.

I was up at Survive this week and the jimpless knives were crazy sick looking with the coating. Anyone that got one is going to really happy. I have a EDC4 ELMAX which is kinda the same a bit no jimping on it. I myself like the jimping its a better fit for me when I'm using it.

Tumbled 3v with no jimping is still available this morning, just put an order in for one.

Great knives but I don't like waiting 8 month and counting for my GSO 10. Hopefully, they are able to increase their production capacity soon.

Did anyone notice on the Survive site Thursday, they offered 8 GSO 4.1 factory seconds for $219, all with DLC coating - they just had the wrong steel type laser engraved on them so they were reengraved with the correct steel (CPM3v). They looked a little funky, but otherwise looked great. They shipped out right away without the wait.

Well it does suck a bit to have to wait to get what you want but, you cant rush american quality. I rather wait mouths for a great quality american made knife then wait a few days or a few week for a mediocre foreign or american made knife that is rushed out the door so that more can be made. If you have ever happen to stop by their shop and spend some time there you will understand why it takes the time it does for each line of knives. I go by there at least twice a mouth an Guy and his staff are always hard at work when I stop by there. Guy and his staff put the the knives thought a really high and hard quality check. And from what I've got from them is if it fails the test then its back to the drawing board to see why and what went wrong so it doesn't happen again.

I've waited months for a Busse, I've waited over a year for a Koster... I don't mind waiting for quality.

I agree with you and I guess i don't mind waiting myself wince I've bought pretty much every preorder since they offered the GSO5. I just wish the timeline they give is a bit more accurate. It seems like it's always being pushed back.

I too am waiting a long time for my GSO 10, and was hoping to have it by Christmas. In today's Gear and Accessories email was a production update, and the preorder GSO 10s are stated to begin shipping next week (week of December 16). I pre-ordered this on the 23rd of April.

I am a huge Survive fan, and I wish that Guy has complete success in his business. I also am willing to wait for the quality of a Pennsylvania designed and made knife with a Pennsylvania heat treat. I do wish that Guy would provide more accurate estimates of delivery when he opens up pre-orders though. The GSO 10 preorder announcement stated an expected availability of August 15. That kept getting pushed farther down the line to November 29, and now December 16. He missed the date by four months (100%). I know that crap happens, and with these knives and Guy's story, I have always forgiven him. I own a GSO 4.1 in M390, three GSO 5,1s all in CPM 3V (use one, gave one to my son, and I was able to get one of a limited run of the 50 Nutnfancy versions sold at Blade HQ which is the only safe queen of any knife I own), a GSO 7/7 false grind in CPM 3V and hopefully a GSO 10 in CPM 3V next week (at least I paid for it in April). So I have this advice for Guy whom I know is going through some really hard growing pains in his business. Always under promise and over deliver with every aspect of your business. If you would have told me in April that the knife that I was buying would not have been delivered until December, I probably would have bought it any way. I knew that I wanted it. You need to put the same customer focused qualtiy that you put into your knives into every facet of your business. Hopefully your business has reached a critical mass where you can tell people that delivery will require 8-10 months if you think that it will, and that people will be happy to preorder the knife anyway. But telling people to expect a four month delivery and not delivering 8 months later only hurts your business and your reputation. Your pricing has increased since I started buying from you, and the demand has also increased due to the quality product that you produce and your reputation. Do not tarnish your reputation by these practices. If a preorder is going to be delayed by 100% due to some unforeseen circumstances, then at least take the time to email all of your preorder customers (not a production update in a newsletter) with an explanation as to why. This should be done at the very least. Better yet, if you think there is a possibility of it taking 8 months, state expected delivery in 10 months. If you have them ready in 4 months, then you have exceeded my expectations with all facets of this purchase. Just like the quality of your knives, this is the reputation that you want to go for.

I do love these knives, and I will continue to support Guy by purchasing his products. I do this because they are fine products that I know I can depend on with my life. I just cannot depend on when I will get them. Please fix this Guy.

First, let me get this out of the way, I love my Survive! knives... Guy makes an excellent product. But after my 3.5 ships I think I will be done with this company until they get past their growing pains. Every knife has been way too far over-due, customer service has been spotty, and updates come out about once a month, usually just to tell you your blades will once again not be delivered on a set date. I have just about every blade I want which is making this decision easier. Guy has been aware of this problem from the beginning but still insists on giving his customers unrealistic ship dates. Some people have no problem having $350 tied up for nine months when promised four but that person is no longer me. It is one thing to be a bit late on orders but 4-5 months? I know some on here will say that is just how some companies work but it doesn't have to be this way... one, if so inclined, could give more accurate ship dates for your products. I'll tell you this, Guy is lucky he makes one heck of a knife because if he didn't, he would not be able to get away will business practices like this.

Buy the way, I just ordered another GSO 4.1 in CPM 3V with no jimping as a stocking stuffer. I really like the jimping for my personal use, especially when going into a carcass blind trying to cut trachea and esophagus by feel. But, since I already have one in M390, I am going to give this one as a gift. I carry the 4.1 everywhere I go when I'm not at work (pocket knives only rule). The one exception to this is when I am in the woods and not hunting, then I carry the GSO 5.1 or the 7/7. I love all of these knives. So far I am very pleased with the M390 for a maintenance free EDC. My understanding is that the M390 is quite similar to the CPM 20CV Guy is going to be offering soon on this knife. I have not thumped very hard on this knife, but I have no concerns with doing so if needed. I have thumped hard on my GSO 5.1 in CPM 3V, and that is a very tough steel with excellent edge holding. The M390 holds an edge very well as well. I'll come back when I get it and have a look at it. I might want to keep the 3V variant as a backup to my M390. I do some ATV riding on trails in the woods. I would hate to loose my 4.1 and not have a backup. In fact, I think I need a backup for every one of these that I own.

Why don't you tell us how you really feel?

In all seriousness, I'd much rather wait on the quality I'm getting from Guy and crew than settle for less. I say take your time. Quality is worth the wait. Plus my money is helping another AMERICAN start up an AMERICAN company and hire AMERICANS to work!

I've had (and have) a couple of 4.1's in M390 and one in particular I beat on every chance I get! I've used it to clean several deer and do some basic woodwork and it's not needed more than a light stropping at most. I was pretty amazed actually, after the last deer I cleaned. I thought sure all of the ribs I cut and bones I bounced the edge off of, it would need more, but it hasn't.

It is good to hear of your experience with the M390, toughness and edge retention. I carry mine for hunting, basic EDC defense and general cutting tasks while working around the property. As I said, I have not thumped hard on it yet mainly because if I know that I will be splitting firewood, making kindling, etc. in the woods, I usually have the 5.1 on me. However, I have not been avoiding thumping on it either. If I did not have the other GSO knives, I probably would have batoned plenty with this knife. I have only dressed and skinned one deer this year with it, but I can notice no difference in the edge from before these tasks. By the way, I am a sharp freak when it comes to my knives. The 4.1 edge was fine the way it came, but I had to put mine on the Wicked Edge and put my own convex edge on it. It would push cut newspaper before and after the deer dressing and skinning. So I have not sharpened it since that use. The primary cutting edge I put on it is 18 dps with 17 dps, 16 dps and 15 dps facets behind it stropped into a continuous convex edge. This is a pretty acute angle for a knife of this type, but it has held up very well for me the way that I am using it. If I change the usage, I might have to change the angles, but so far, so good.

Some nice-looking belt loops for their kydex sheaths were put on the site today. Ordered a few.

I've got a GSO 6, and I have two GSO 4.1's ordered... I think I'll snag a GSO 10 when they become available and call it good for now. Camo micarta on all, of course... I really dig theirs.

I saw those belt loops. I like the position of the loop on their sheaths for the 4.1 and even the 5.1. But a drop loop would probably be a good thing for a larger knife. I think that I ill order one as well.

Great knives but I don't like waiting 8 month and counting for my GSO 10. Hopefully, they are able to increase their production capacity soon.

Hey Caba. I do not think that I ever want Guy at Survive to increase his production to the point that his products are no different than a bunch of other U.S. manufacturers. The reason I love his knives is how he makes his knives, how he QCs his knives, etc. If he becomes another ESEE, why would I buy Survive. I do not mind paying more for a Survive knife because of what he does and how he does it. And I do not mind waiting months to receive such a knife. But as my other post points out, I wish that the wait times stated during the pre-order stage were just more realistic. Additionally when crap happens and delivery is going to be delayed, then a personal email to the preorder customers stating why the delay is happening, and an estimation of the best guess date for delivery should be provided. I really do not mind waiting 8 months or even a year for an exceptional knife. I do mind being told that it will take 4 months for a knife, and it ends up taking 8 or 10 with no explanation why other than newsletter production updates stating that delivery is delayed. Sometimes I do not have time to read Newsletter updates. I'll always have time to read a Survive email with "Your GSO 10 delivery is going to be delayed" as the subject. I do not want Guy to turn into an ESSE, Junkyard, or a plethora of other very good knife manufactures. I think his knives are special. I fear that the only way that he can get production up to fully meet demand, is to manufacture knives the way that the other guys do. This is not what I want. If Survive does eventually turn into that, then I will probably not be buying more of his knives, unless his pricing can undercut the other manufacturers.

I been waiting on the 4.1 know for a long time . At first I said why wait I'm getting a .....,, I'm not waiting . Then after seeing some of Guy's video and also the Nutfance video . I can wait . Guy puts a lot into his knives pride and hard work and that deserve my business . Love the fact that he has the American Flag on the blade with Pride Ill carry that knife .
