What this means is exactly what Gig told you. I have a life and am not inclined to read every thread around here. If you have a problem with a personal attack, report it. (It only takes a click and a reason typed for reporting it.) We will look at it and decide what to do. We may not do what you want, but it will not be ignored. The reported thread will show up in the mod area where those who have an interest can offer opinions.

To come into this thread saying we are not being fair when you have not ever reported the problem does not take into account everything that goes on here. None of us can keep up with all of it and reporting posts helps us to focus on problems.

If you sitting back waiting and you have not taken the time to inform us, you'll be waiting forever.

I agree that allenC made the mistake of directing language at a person instead of at that person's language. It's a fine line though, and for some folks, it's a line that doesn't exist.

allenC made another mistake. He took Hair's bait. And believe me, there was plenty of baiting in Hair's posts. He basically kept saying the same things over and over in order to goad allenC further and further down the rabbit hole.

There's a lot of such baiting that goes on at BF. And I've seen folks called a lot worse names by other BF members without any hint of banning. Some such namecalling is overlooked for personal/political reasons (friends with the moderator, long time poster, etc.). Some of it has to do with where (which forum) the name calling takes place. Hey, life ain't always fair. That's just how the world works. Suck it up and live with it, or get off the planet.

Still, allenC should have just left the bait alone. Arguing with idiots is always a lost cause.

Not that I'm calling anyone in particular an idiot; I'm just stating a general rule of thumb. ;) :D

To my knowledge, there isn't a moderator on here (myself included) that plays favorites with anyone. Granted, we do let things slide for all in the Cove and W&C, and occasionally in political. If you have evidence of such favortism, I want to see it.

I want links to posts, and some names, Guyon. Lets see who plays favorites on here.

I made the insults and I was banned...no argument from me there, I deserved it.

But Hair made personal insults toward me first, yet he was not banned.
And if you don't think that being called "ignorant" is an insult, try it on your boss, your mother-in-law, your child, the neighbor's child, a judge, a cop, your wife....etc.

Sure, it's true that everyone is ignorant of something.
But to call someone ignorant is still an insult.
Some folks are fat, but calling them fat is still not generally accepable.
It is commonly, and rightfully, believed to be an insult.

For the record, I have called just about everyone in that list ignorant at one time or another. I've never gotten in 'trouble' for it either. I don't consider it an insult; I consider it fact in most cases. Yes, I'm a forthright and blunt SOB most of the time, and I think that if bluntness is warranted, then trying to be nice has failed. Individuality is what makes us individuals. You may not like some people who are like me, and that is fine. Don't associate with them or piss them off, and you won't feel 'insulted'.

I'll have to read the thread a bit to see what you are referring to exactly, but I asked for specific instances, and names. For the record, you were banned by one of the most lenient, respectful, and caring mods on here. You really must have pissed him off to get a 10 day ban.

I'll be reading the thread again before I comment further.
 
I have skimmed most of the thread myself, and while I see no evidence of moderator favortism, I do see some other things in that thread. I want hard facts and evidence on the moderator favortism that Guyon claims. Without evidence, it is heresay, unfounded, and not worthy of my time.

Allen, I'm not going to comment on what I think should have been done with a few individuals in that thread; it isn't my place to do so, and one of the supers who I have the utmost respect for already did what he needed to do. End of discussion.

Now, I do take exception to one of your comments in post #64.

If you read in the paper "Republican Senator X calls Democratic Senator Y ignorant at local townhall meeting"
Would you think that Senator X was NOT being insulting toward Senator Y?

If the coach told you that your son had to be a bench-warmer because he was too ignorant to play on the field, you would not consider that to be an insult to your son?

If a range officer publicly declared that you were too ignorant to have a weapon on to the range, you would not feel insulted?

If you called your telephone service provider to complain about a charge for a call to china that you never made, and they said that you were too ignorant to properly work the phone or understand the billing statement, you would not feel insulted?

You're kidding, right?
 
To clarify, Code3 thought I was talking about the General thread. But I was thinking more about what goes on in other less-regulated forums (W&C, Cove, for example) and even wrote originally, "Some of it has to do with where (which forum) the name calling takes place."

I didn't intend a slight on the moderators here at all. They do a stand-up job and make the forums a good place to visit. In allenC's case, I pointed out quite clearly that he made a mistake in taking Hair's bait, and he paid the price.

To Code3, I was comparing apples and oranges since I was talking about threads in the less-regulated forums. I should have been more clear in the original post.

As for my comment about "personal/political" preferences, well hell, that's just how the world works. Someone who has been posting on here for years and who has forged personal relationships with lots of folks... well, that person is going to get the benefit of the doubt before some young punk with a smart mouth. That (surely obvious) condition exists just about everywhere and is what I was trying to point out.

No hard feelings intended.

With very very few exceptions, Chris Reeve does not allow the Sebenza to be sold for less than MSRP.
That's why the price seldom varies for a new Sebenza regardless of the dealer.
And that's also why it is nearly impossible for one CR dealer to undercut another CR dealer on a new Sebenza.
It's nothing more than a form of legal price-fixing in my opinion.

I can't verify these assertions, but they sound like Apple computers. Ever tried to buy a Mac on sale? Don't happen often. :D

Maybe not favoritism but something like it on the thread that I reported a few months ago. A forumite whose main message seems to be insulting somebody or something. When I say that I feel kind of difficult to be insulted by an idiot whom am I insulting? :D
