So the people who sent me a bent Fine foresters axe replaced it, with a Les Stroud Bushman Axe which is a more expensive axe, and it seems they hand picked it because its not sloppy at all.
Damn nice to have something go better than expected. I like the handle on this one WAY better. Its thicker and straight, and the blade cover fits better.
What a day !
I got on an axe kick recently, was looking for something about the size of a GB SFA but didn't want to drop that much coin. Was looking at options up to ~$70 when I realized I hardly ever get out to justify even spending that much. So I got a fiskars X15, haven't played with it yet but I like the weight. I have a Gerber axe with a 17" handle that I've had for 15 years or so and no issues to date so I figure I'll stick with what works, and they're inexpensive.
I've always like the old Jeep FC models:

The new Jeep FC Concept vehicle looks bad ass: http://westcountyexplorersclub.com/2012/03/28/spotted-jeep-forward-control-concept/

That FC Jeep concept gave me tinglies in my downstairs, especially the portal axles. There's an old FC jeep flatbed across town just sitting in someone's driveway. Wish I had the money to rescue it. Maybe I'll call up that dude from Chasing Classic Cars to come rescue it and the 60's Lincoln Continental I saw up on blocks with rust on the brake rotors.
