Hey Cbear just be glad those knives come with a sheath that works. at a minimum it holds the knife. Half the knives i buy dont come with any type of sheath and already cost a nice penny.

I understand the process, I even have the tools (I think) I just don't trust my skill level. I know I start way too many projects that never get completed and I have a feeling this would just be another one of those.

This one didn't. I thought it did but it didn't. I just never throw out my boxes or my sheaths even if I get a different one for it. As such when it got here, I just threw it in a spare I had.
 
Yea i just went and tossed about 10 knife boxes that i had just sitting in my closet. Taking up too much room and had little use to me so they went in the trash.

I always keep sheaths, and im always looking for extras of the nylon kabar sheaths. Those things come in handy for me big time and have saved me a nice penny already.

My dad gave me a couple really thick ones, I think they might be wool. It'll be below zero and I'll have to pull it off my face every now and then because it's too warm. They have a handy little tab for that very purpose too.

Exactly where I am. I also need to get a heat gun. I used to heat the kydex in my oven but I'm not sure my new roommates would appreciate that. It would also allow me to form the mouths of the sheaths after the rest is set.
 
I bought a bunch of kydex months ago, tried to make a sheath using my oven and some books as the press.... Came out like POOP, so i traded off all the stuff and that was that :D

This is one of those 6 in one deals... It's a beanie, throat warmer, face warmer, something else, something else, something else... I dunno it's way too sophisticated for me. I actually just wanted a damn ski mask, but I couldn't find one ANYWHERE! So I stopped in at a Uniform Store in Chicago and yeah, rather awkward walking in to a room FULL of cops (20 or so) standing around when I got an Izula on my hip. But it got us talking about knives too and yeah actually had fun! They gave me a CRAZY good deal on it too. I ended up getting it for "department" price even though I'm not a LEO.

I tried that too using a yoga mat or something for the foam. Didn't work at all. went down to the hardware store, got a big sturdy hinge, a 2x12, and some screws and grabbed a short piece of chain I had laying around. Cut the 2x12 into two 4ft long pieces and hinged them together and then ordered the right foam. I heat the kydex, place it in the press, close it and stand on it and hook the chain on a screw to hold it for about 15 minuets or so. It works well I just need to work on forming the mouths and setting placing the rivets.
 
We're getting close. How 'bout we sandbag it in the snark thread until the mods go to bed and then just go nuts. I think we can make it to 2000.

We tried that before, there are just too many of them! There is always SOMEONE keeping an eye on us. I feel kind of like the snark thread is a version of Big Brother that is really disconcerting!

Im in the middle of Philly.... I play with knives every single day in my house. I have a knife on my lap as i type this, but i cant really enjoy them here. I have to leave the city and get into the woods to really have fun with them. And now its starting to get a little chilly for that. Im going 1 more time this year though.

The word chilly made me hungry.
