Unroll cinnamon rolls and put 'em back together with a strip of bacon in each one. Bake normally. Yum!

These are a little funny-lookin' because the dough didn't unroll easily... but they still taste good.
And how come this isn't in the everything bacon thread, hmmm? Looks delicious though.

Those of you already using the Worksharp . . .

Normally, I sharpen my knives with the blade cutting into the stone. On the Worksharp, if you use the guides, one side of the blade is sharpened with the belt running toward the edge and the other side with the belt running away from the edge.

Does this matter? Make any difference?

Just seems like it might cause a difference from one side of the blade to to other. Maybe I'm making a mountain out of a molehill . . . ??

Doesn't seem to, but neither does it leave a mirror finish...my kitchen knives come out sharp enough to cut tomatoes easily, but they get run across the steel nearly every time I use them anyway. Other knives...if you're a real stickler you probably strop them after you use your stones of choice anyway, so after a 6000 grit belt I've gotten similar results as you might get after your last stone - still really sharp. and if I'm just gonna beat on it in the woods, that's sharp enough for me. And it's fast. If you're shooting for (closer to) perfection, the WS just cuts a lot of time out of the first few steps. Plus, if you've got axes or garden tools to rescue, from spades to bypass shears, it kicks butt: it's a portable, hand-held belt grinder. If you count up the number of edge tools you have in your house, I think it is a great investment an a really good value to boot. Perfection? No. But if you have a mountain of tools to maintain, that....can be turned into a molehill.
Now, if I could only save up to get the Worksharp for woodworking tools.....

Thanks, Bigghoss & granite . . . appreciate the tips!

Jury is still out. Ordered a KME first of last week which was shipped priority mail from NJ on Wed. Should have been here Friday, 11/15 but instead it's sitting in Billings, MT for over 24 hours now. :(

May pass on the KME and order the WSKO from the river store. At least their shipping is reliable and it will still get here before the KME.

Yeah . . . I'm impatient . . . :emot-yarr:

I've been thinking about a KME for my EDC blades.

Had to look that up.. never seen a KME before. I have a DMT Aligner that I used a lot before I got the Worksharp. That KME looks like the same principal as the DMT system, only on serious steroids. The DMT rolls up into a little pouch about 2" dia. by 5" long, very easily transportable. I also have the WS field sharpener that is portable as well and no setup time like the DMT. Been thinking about a DMT credit card kit for my BK-2 sheath setup, to stiffen up the floppy belt loop and have field sharpeners with as well. Might ask for that for the holiday, not too expensive from that jungle store.

Hey Dubz where is that thread where you carved the old man face using a Becker? Gimme a link to that if you don't mind.

I ordered three of these bags last week, and they arrived a couple of days ago.
While they were billed as "used," mine sure don't look it. Each one still had unused gloves and lens cleaners inside.
Makes a great woods-walking bag. I kept the waist strap, but just rolled it up and slapped a "Web Dominator" on it.
Here's my rig so far.

I'm surprised you didn't throw a stove in there biscuit. I like that kit though. I might have to do something like that. I still need to get a shemagh.

I've been thinking about a KME for my EDC blades.

Only real problem I see with the KME is it won't work with really small blades and therefore is worthless for sharpening penknife blades or anything without adequate distance between the top of the blade and the cutting edge. Nor is it easy to sharpen the knife blade in a leatherman . . . takes some special clamping arrangements.

But . . . for all my Beckers and most hunting type fixed blades it would work fine. Also, it will sharpen the MachAx (BK4) if you add the KME Jewelstik which is a three sided diamond hone designed for the job.

So, overall I'm still leaning toward the KME. Just gotta' wait til USPS gets their act together and moves it to NE Tennessee . . . :grumpy:

I don't have the WS, but I do have the KME. I have had NO issues with it, at all. I even had to call down and get a new set of clamps because of my own goof, they sent them out that day I had them a couple days later.

KME=Small, american made, awesomeness. WorkSharp= Totally not sure if that can be said about it. I know it's awesome but still.

I'm not a fan of the belt sanders for sharpening as I've seen the results - lots of material removed, rounded tips, etc.
A medium flat stone and a kitchen steel, and a strop cover most needs. If you need a belt sander then you've let your knife get too dull!
It takes a little practice, but not much! Wish I could have given another sharpening demo/tutorial at BeckerEast again. It's one of those things that helps to SEE it done with some narrative.

Why don't restaurants ever use REAL bacon, good bacon. They always have this anorexic bacon flavored paper that they charge out the wazoo for. Mostly better from the night of drinking however I really want some biscuits and gravy with hash browns and bacon. No one has good ones around here though. :(

Ordered four pounds of Benton's bacon some time back. It was really tasty and we enjoyed it.

But . . . it was really salty. Is it always that salty . . . ??

yeah, that sucks. I don't order bacon out. WholeFuuds has GREAT thick-cut naturally cured bacon. OMG yum.
