Hello all,

I've heard a lot of good things about Alpha Knife Supply, and I am interested in placing an order with them. Unfortunately, I have been trying to contact them for a week now with no success. I've tried calling and emailing.

I'm wondering if anyone here knows a better way to get in touch with them?

Thanks for your time.

I have ordered from them several times online, but have not had to contact them directly. Each time i have ordered everything went well.Igot got exactly what I ordered and in a timely fashion.

Chuck is a great guy. Some times it takes a while for him to get back to you but he will.

I must be special, they always call me back the same day :p

All kidding aside, just leave a voice-mail with your number and what you need. They're good folks, probably just busy.

Thanks for the info. I left a message last Friday on the voicemail and sent the email then too. I'll keep trying, as I really like to give business to local family operations. I just hope the piece of stag I'm looking at isn't gone by the time I get in touch! :p

Sorry to tell you this, but unless you have a tax ID number, Chuck can't sell to you in the state of WA.

I'm sorry we missed you. Please call or e-mail again or post your phone number. We will do what we can to help you.

Greg is incorrect again. I don't know why he keeps butting in with bad information.

Alpha Knife Supply is a wholesale business. Washington state residents must have a Resale Permit to buy materials from us.

This law applies ONLY to Washington state residents.

Two weeks ago I perused the AKS website on a Saturday morning, found a bunch of things I was looking for (CruForgeV, even!!!!), copied all the parts into an email and sent it to them, then called on my way into work to add a piece of stag and give them my credit card info. I left a message (9AM here is 6AM there, after all!).

That afternoon, I was called by AKS to confirm that they'd received my order, that it had been boxed up and dropped off at the post office, and that I'd get an email confirmation (if I'd like one).

On Tuesday (a mere three days later!!!!) my shipment arrived. Over 20 pounds of steel and a handful of tidbits PERFECTLY packaged so that nothing could shift around, everything individually labelled so neither of us would be confused about what each piece of steel was. I can't stress enough about just how spectacular the packaging was!!!!

This was (embarrassingly) my first interaction with Chuck and his crew - I assure you, it won't be the last. You've got my steel business, Chuck. THANK YOU!!!!!!

Matthew raises a good point that to be honest, I kind of take for granted just because I'm spoiled... they package stuff really well.

Also, every time I talk to Chuck on the phone, I learn a whole lot. I think he might be psychic... he brings up things I didn't even know I had questions about  :)

I'm not trying to upset you or interfere with your business. Obviously, my attempts to be helpful aren't working, so I'll honor your implied request and stay out of all future topics involving your company.

Chuck and Greg....I think the problem was in wording. You are both saying the same thing. Lets just let it be with the clear explanation from Chuck.

Chuck is great to deal with. Awhile back a package of steel he sent had had very rough treatment in shipping and some of the pieces of steel were missing. I notified Chuck , not really expecting replacement, but to let him know about the shipper. In a very short time Chuck sent steel to replace that which had been lost in shipping. I very much appreciate his customer service.

Alpha is a first class act all the way. Some of the best folks I have ever spent my hard earned money with.

I live in WA and I have been waiting for the right time to order from you guys, (basically when I want special materials etc) but I have no idea what a resale permit is lol. All I know how to do is put things in a shopping cart, then check out using paypal etc. How does one go about gettin a resale permit, an why is this a law? Sounds like a retarded law!! ;)

It is a tax ID # filed with the state , your SS # , . You then become responsible to collect tax $'s when and if you RESALE the item bought . They are not responsible to collect tax and the state can still trace and follow the sales .

AKS has the best customer service. Period. As to your question about not being able to contact them, I ordered from them today(2/22/13). They told me they have been having several power outages due to severe winds. They are excellent to deal with, and their hours are great. I believe that they answer the phones until 10:00pm PST. They always ship very fast and efficient, and materials are always wrapped very well. It's the only place I buy steel. They have hard to find sizes and steels without having to buy in large quantities. When ordering from AKS you can tell they share the passion of knife making and will discuss your needs at length.
