Actually I think the aluminum scales make it heavier. Those Noryl GTX scales are very light.

It's kind of hard to say. Basically anything you can think of. Cutting packaging, zip ties, a bit of impromptu woodworking, bit of electrical work, cutting hose, cutting food, boxes, tape, whatever my puny teeth and claws cannot.

Both of those grips look great. I really love the look of the vintage micarta with the stonewashed Ritter blade.

Sorry the picture is so grainy, took with my camera phone, couldn't find my good camera. I really love the grey blade with the blue scales. and it fits much better in my hand, the Wilkins grips are amazing. this is my first set and wont be my last.

Yep, the scales are great so far. I don't really find them all that slippery either.
