Alternatives to "Beer Scout Knife?"

The Beer Scout Knife appears to be one of GECs great classics. I believe we all have some kind of an understanding that the Boy Scouts of America (now "Scouting BSA" in many instances)...persuaded GEC to stop making the Beer Scout Knife.

I wonder if GEC has considered producing a sheepfoot + cap opener on the #15 frame (maybe without an EO notch, so it'd be a different knife) and use a different shield, albeit one with engraved words, so as to still be a branch-off of their "Scout" knife on the #15 frame. I'm not affiliated with GEC in any way, but I've wondered this. Perhaps this thread could serve as a place for members to post ideas...in the unlikely event that anyone from GEC might happen to stumble across this thread...and read it...and get an idea they could freely use without anyone trying to "persuade" them otherwise. ;)

I have a beloved orange camel SFO "Beer Scout" that has a hotdog sheild. I love the knife and love the hotdog shield, in general, but really wish it had the Beer Scout Knife shield. :(

So what are your alternatives to "Beer Scout Knife?" I'll start us out with a couple of the most obvious.

I believe the usage of the word "Scout" is what will get them sued.
So, you'll have to come up with ideas without that word in it.

Bottles are becoming hard to come by and local breweries are switching to cans because they get melted down vs. reused the same way the the bottles have to be.

I propose the name "Church Key". It could still have the crown lifter which would double as a tab popper.

I find it ironic that BSA has the stones to complain about something as innocuous as a beer opener, given, well, you know.

In any case, “Scout” is a pretty generic term. Did they claim some registered intellectual property rights, or were they just looking for an accomodation?

Edit...
Sorry. I get riled up when people dog-pile on the BSA.
The BSA did a lot for me when I was a kid. My Dad hated the outdoors and anything associated with the outdoors; like knives, guns, camping, fishing, etc. The BSA taught me how to camp, survive, first aid, building fires, leadership, etc. The BSA also helped me raise my kids the right way. They reinforced the values and skills i was teaching them myself. I was a Scout, a Scout Leader, and a lifetime supporter of the BSA. I'm done now. :D

"Scout" has been used on a lot of knives that are not official Boy Scout or Cub Scout knives over the years. I guess joining the terms "Beer" and "Scout" is not the most politic, but I don't see what the objection to the plain word Scout can be??!!:eek:

I didn't realize GEC couldn't make them ever again...... I'm gonna mark mine up to $1500 and put it on the exchange. I'm sure someone would be "fishin" for one, and would snatch it up, post haste.

just kidding.... I don't own a Beer Scout. But, if I DID..... :D

John glad to see a strong supporter, keep to your beliefs, the organization has done a lot for kids that didn’t have the parental support and needed these activities in their life, Stay Strong.
