Alternatives to "Beer Scout Knife?"

They could call it whatever they like and they’ll sell! I’ve got a Beer Scout and would happily pick up another caplifter knife from GEC. I turned a Schatt and Morgan into what I really want from GEC. #35 with clip point main, awl and caplifter/screwdriver, preferably with half stops.

Pic please??

No joke, sitting in my work break rooms I just saw a commercial for BSA class action lawsuit for people who have been assaulted... horrible.

My 9 year old son begged to be in BSA. We took him to a meeting last year to check it out. It was super unorganized and the people had no control over the group. It was bad. He was so Disappointed because his grandpa was a scout and his uncle is an Eagle Scout.
I would think that a knife that may resemble their club knife would be the last of their worries...

Anyway. Beer Boy is a good suggestion. I like that.

I’ve mentioned several times on here that I’ve given up trying to post pics. I’m not going to get into it again but I post on Spyderco forums under the same name. Off topic, talking about traditionals or something like that. Also FB group slipjoint army.

Edit...
Sorry. I get riled up when people dog-pile on the BSA.
The BSA did a lot for me when I was a kid. My Dad hated the outdoors and anything associated with the outdoors; like knives, guns, camping, fishing, etc. The BSA taught me how to camp, survive, first aid, building fires, leadership, etc. The BSA also helped me raise my kids the right way. They reinforced the values and skills i was teaching them myself. I was a Scout, a Scout Leader, and a lifetime supporter of the BSA. I'm done now. :D

I’m glad you had such great experiences John. That’s “Scout”ing at its best. The organization you knew and loved no longer exists though and is a shell of its former self.

The whole thing is very uneven now. The things learned and experiences gained vary greatly from council to council and troop to troop. I suppose it’s similar for all large, national-level organizations. Perhaps it’s always been that way? For example, my daughter is a Girl Scout. Her troop is incredible, and I know that when she’s older she’ll look back on her time with fond memories. Most of the other nearby troops aren’t as good, even though they draw their kids from the same school or general community. They don’t have the character building activities, the public service events or the time spent in the outdoors. Many of the troops serves as nothing more than glorified play dates.

Just call those things what they are, a bottle opener knife. I suppose it’s not a catchy enough name though.

John, I appreciate your post. I did not intend the thread to insult or defend the Boy Scouts of America. For what's its worth, I'm an Eagle Scout and have served as a scout leader on more than one occasion. There have been recent changes with the BSA that could be seen as "political" or...could be seen as moves in a "correct" direction. But I was not opening that door for commentary to one side or the other on this score; nor did I intend to speak ill of the organization that had such a positive impact on my life.

I'm merely observing that we can't have "Beer Scout Knives" any more. And I thought some fun discussion could ensue about alternatives to a GEC product.

Ah, how about call it what it is, a "Radio Knife"........

First run had radio etch
Then crown lifter
Then Esnyx's Beerlow
Then Beer Scout

Just start over again......
But wasn't "Radio" (which I never understood) the designation for the clip point with a crescent nail nick + bottle opener? And the "Crown Lifter" the designation for the long pull clip + bottle opener?

I could be over thinking it, but I thought GEC was trying to have a different name for each iteration.

Bottles are becoming hard to come by and local breweries are switching to cans because they get melted down vs. reused the same way the the bottles have to be.
.
Yeah, it must be so much easier, cheaper, and use fewer natural resources to shred, and melt down the old cans, and make "new" cans, than it is to wash and re-use those glass bottles ...

It actually is when you count up dealing with the old bottles.

Cans take up less space especially if they get crushed down and are lighter, can be turned into any aluminum product, any raw aluminum can be made into cans so you don't need to wait for a bottle picker to send the stuff back to washed and sterilized before it's reused.

Different etches each time. Same screwdriver on all of them. First two runs clips, second two runs (i think two) were sheep. Either way or flavor. The combo is consistent with vintage radio knives. They came with spears, clips and sheeps.

Forgive my ignorance, but what's a vintage radio knife?

I believe the usage of the word "Scout" is what will get them sued.
So, you'll have to come up with ideas without that word in it.

Realy I assumed it was the beer and scout together they objected to

do the various firearms manufactures like Ruger and Steyr pay a fee for the use of the term scout rifle?

Sweet. Thank you, Rockon75 Rockon75 .
Sorry to be dense, but the radio (and auto) terms were because the knives were to serve with repairing radios (and cars)? Like knives for those who like to tinker (and a bottle opener was just a bonus?)?
