Am I doing it wrong?

The manix is my favorite in the lineup I like it more than the PM2 personally! But everybody has different taste! That’s what makes the world interesting haha

You're gonna need stitches after that thing opens in yore pockit.... 😈
Nah, it's been fine for months. The spoon clip on the xl locks it into place pretty well. I have more of a medium spring I found aftermarket though, so it's not super light but much better than factory.

I’ve got a few and like them well enough. Sorta hurts the hand when hammer fisting and pushing through stuff hard. The blade profile is very useful though.

The Manix series suffers from too much jimping, IMO. I have no other complaints about them, however,

Sal can write his own version of "The Return of the Native"

I believe that Sal (or someone else?) said it overlaps too much with the existing Native. Still, it would be nice to have a CBL in the Native size range.

Now you're just going to make me get back to kicking that zombie dead horse of surely we can get a compression lock Native by now.

I stopped buying Millies when they put a comp lock on it. The same would happen for the Chief. The Native was already a lost cause, so they might as well go ahead on it. I've been trying to like the compression lock since the Salsa/ATR/ParaMilitary days. No luck so far.

I feel the opposite of you on this in some ways.

The compression lock military 2 caused me (along with the 4 way carry clip addition) to buy two of them when I'd bought no military 1 versions.

I'd probably have bought a military 1 if they'd had tip up carry, but the tip down only option doesn't work for me. I've hated it since forever. Yes, I get the concept they were working on there, but part of why I like tip up is that it puts the hole and the jimping around the hole deep into my pocket and the blade against the seam of my pocket so it can't open and I don't get my hand scratched every time I want something out of that pocket.

I'm not a huge liner/ril lover. Sorta take it/leave it for me. Though the compression lock is a fave of mine because it naturally gets my fingers out of the way so I can just close the knife rather than have to do the whole thumb dance thing.

Just got my first Native today. The backlock was a bit gritty, but we'll see if the Tuf-Glide I applied helps iron it out. The 15V is, of course, excellent but not quite as refined as on the PM2 just received.

I don't mind the backlocks. I'm not a fidgeter by nature and generally only open and close the knives when I'm using or maintaining. Except when I first get 'em.

Some backlocks seem to need a touch of break in. You can try the good ol Ruger trigger job and push down on the blade loading the lock and then actuate it, just watch your fingers.

I've had 45 to 50 stitches (cumulative) in both hands. I'll stick with the lube for now. LOL

ETA: It's already less gritty. Not as smooth as the Leaf Jumper, but we'll see how she goes. I'm optimistic.

Ah whats a few more among so many. :)

One of the great things about the Native 5 is the choil will keep the blade off your other fingers. This is how I flip it closed, break the lock and flip forward, choil hits finger then shift hand use index finger to push closed. Between that and reverse flicking it open they are surprisingly fidgetable.

I already know the first part, about letting the blade drop down in that manner, but fidgeting is just not my thing.

In addition to the stitches, several years of rock climbing, sports and martial arts injuries, as well as working as an LEO, have left a couple of my fingers with some neuropathy / lack of sensitivity. So while I can manipulate all of my knives well enough, I can't do any of the fancy finger flicking that everyone likes to show off in their YT videos.

That’s a lot of ouchies.

Thank you for keeping the streets safer!
