Am I doing it wrong?

I really like the Manix 2 LW because it disappears into my pocket and has a slicey leaf-shaped blade. It's also a fun fidget knife. I probably EDC it as much as any knife I own. I don't love the much heavier G10 version nearly as much; but I do like the Cru-carta finish a lot. (Your Neon Green 20CV is 🔥!) The XL looks very good too. I haven't held one yet.

There are a lot of knives - Spyderco and otherwise - in the Manix 2 size category, so it's no big deal if the Manix doesn't work for you. I want to like the Spidey Chef, but I just can't.

You aren't doing anything wrong, for me it's the same with the (Para)Military series. It was the first Spyderco I bought, the PM2 that is, and as much as I want to love it, I can't get over how stupid it looks in real life (the pictures of basically any PM2 are amazing, but in my hand it's just hideous) and the bladeshape doesn't work for me, I often need to slip my knife under straps and cut them, which for me is easier with a curved spine. So these knives just don't work for me. I also got my father a PM2 and a friend a PM3LW and everytime I see them I ask to see their knives, but it doesn't change for me ...

PS: sign me up for a Native chief with a compression lock, yes please! 😘

Nah, it's been fine for months. The spoon clip on the xl locks it into place pretty well. I have more of a medium spring I found aftermarket though, so it's not super light but much better than factory.
I say, I say - that was a joke son.
