I wanted a PM2 for awhile, I got a Camo/Satin and a Black/Satin, and they just don't do it for me. I mean they are great knives, well built and have nice ergos. But they bore me. I like my Military better and for the size, the Manix 2.

I guess I just don't get the hype.

I'm sure there are others, but I'm not one of them. I love the Para II.
It and the Military are must have Spyderco's for me.

edit- BTW, its not hype.

You're not alone. Between the PM2's overly thick blade, its overly long handle, and its wrong handed lock, it holds no appeal for me. I just chalk it up to the fact that nothing appeals to everyone.

Yeah, not hype....I just don't see it. But, I will be honest....If the PM2 was the only knife I could own....all would be fine.

I agree with all of your comments. The lock also feels awkward for me to disengage. Maybe I'm just getting older and less coordinated.

My pm2 came in the mail on Saturday, and to be honest I was underwhelmed. I don't see what's so great about the compression lock. I greatly prefer my Manix 2. I'm carrying the para today but I will probably sell it. I have yet to cut anything with it.

I can't figure out one-handed operation of the Manix lock. The PM2 is perfect for my needs, and is super easy to close, too.

I feel you.. even though I've figured it out i haven't mastered it.

I'm just so used to my military its second nature and Im with OP on liking the military better then para

Your not alone nice knife just not feeling it either

You are not alone.

With that said I have one, with the STR deep clip. I like the knife, but I think it is somewhat over rated. If it didn't have the word "military" in it, I bet it's sales would be about 75% of what they are now. True story.

What bores you about them specifically?

Not sure.....just not much interest. I own a Yojimbo 2 that I like better....same lock. My Military carries just as easy and I like the way the liner lock works in it. My Manix 2 LW, is nearly the same size and I like the lock, and ergos better. The PM2 is a great knife, it just doesn't do it for me.

I must be in that 75% that would still buy it. As someone who does not like tacticool, super killer, military-ish, carry blades at all, it could've been called the Spyderco FairyKisses for all I'm concerned, and would've still bought it. I was hesitant on the camo, but it was different than anything else I had so I went for it...would've been just as happy with black. No one feature nor the name sold me on it, but the complete package did.

It doesn't get me all that excited either although I like everything about it. I'd say it's very utilitarian. And for the price, it's very hard to beat.

Right, and 3 out of 4 people would be just like you.

I have had 3, i don't know why because I don't like it and sell then I buy another one thinking I will like it and repeat the cycle. I currently have the camo satin because it was all I could find. I understand what you are saying, it's not a bad knife it's just not my favorite. And mine have all had blade play and to get the play out you don't have the quick free swinging action it's suppose to be know for. I too prefer the Manix.

It doesn't have any particular feature which sets it above other blades - it's not better looking, carrying better, handling better, edge holding better, etc.. But while other knives keep dropping into my pocket for a time - I keep coming back to it. *shrug*

I wish it had a slightly longer blade to match the handle (minor gripe for me) but other than that, there's else nothing I don't like. Love the PM2.

Every popular knife (any knife for that matter) will have those people who don't like it. It can't be for everyone but it sure is popular enough to cause riots and panic when one gets released.

No one really hypes it up, it just became popular because enough people like them and shared their positive opinions on it.
