Am I the only one that thinks the PM2 is.....Meh.

I wanted a PM2 for awhile, I got a Camo/Satin and a Black/Satin, and they just don't do it for me. I mean they are great knives, well built and have nice ergos. But they bore me. I like my Military better and for the size, the Manix 2.

I guess I just don't get the hype.

Pretty much my same reaction with my new Caly 3.5. I bought this based on all the hype and have been sorry ever since. Not sure if I want to send it back, resell it online or just hold off for a bit to see if it will ever grow on me.

I guess to me, the compression lock is counter-intuitive. I have large hands, and the grip is a little too narrow. I think I'm going to return it.

Visually it might be kinda meh if you compare it to some of the flashier models. But in my experience, once you get used to the lock and use it for real work, it's excellent.

But I understand what you're saying, I feel the same indifference towards the Native.

So, I have the Manix 2 LW which has been my main EDC since I got it. Today I got the Manix 2 G10 and, this is just my opinion. I like it better then the PM2... a lot better. My Manix 2 LW needed two fingers to unlock, but was still easy to do. The G10 only needs one finger. Plus the massive amount of jimping is a major plus.

I've had two PM2's and ended up selling both of them. I tend to prefer my Manix 2 Lightweight and my Stretch. I think I actually prefer FRN and FRCP to G10. I also have a Rat1, and given the size and shape of all of these knives, I just didn't see what the PM2 offered me that I didn't have already covered by the Rat, Manix 2 and Stretch.

I think you will find this with most knives. Some of the knives I find perfect friends of mine think are meh and the other way around. The PM2 and Caly 3.5 are very well designed and perform very well. Neither is a favorite of mine, but I like them both and carry them quite a bit

PM2 size and feel is perfect for me, and I like the simplicity of the lock. Military is too big and I don't care for the Manix lock, plus I hate the release button on the Manix.

If it didn't have the word "military" in it, I bet it's sales would be about 75% of what they are now. True story.

I hope you're joking. Not really sure.
A name isn't going to cause people to buy a knife(IMO).

For me the Para2 just left me wanting. Not that its a bad knife because in fact its a great one, its just for me and my uses I will choose my Caly 3.5 over the Para2.

Nope. Not joking. Users on here won't buy it for a name, but like it or not, most people gravitate toward anything that says military/tactical, ect. It's simple truth.

I'm not saying it's a great knife. But I bet it squeezes out many sales because of it's name, and the hype. It's a domino effect.

I want a domino.

Right there with you. I've owned a PM2, Breeden Rescue, Yo2, Chokwe, Police 3, and Superleaf and have sold them all except the Superleaf. Just haven't gotten around to selling it yet. Endura, Delica, and Stretch just feel better to me. Something about the clunkiness of the G10 vs the molded FRN makes the decision an easy one for me. That Stretch especially...wow, what a knife!

I'm not going to speak in absolutes, but I think it's true that certain buzz words like military and tactical create interest in certain groups particularly the mall ninja crowd. But forget Paramilitary, the Military itself was released in 1996 I think, and it still sells in huge numbers today because it's tried and true.

Hype, on the other hand, especially in the internet and YouTube age, sells a vast amount of knives. I was a prime example when thinking about buying a Southard. You just never read a bad thing about one. Luckily I got a chance to try it out for a few days before deciding on a purchase. Within a few hours I knew I didn't like it, and good thing I wasn't an average joe who knows relatively little about knives and isn't a member of a forum where he can easily resell his new knife with sometimes minimal loss and had just dropped over $200 on a knife I just really didn't like...or I'd been kinda upset.

No, most people(other than mall ninja's that buy cheap knives) don't gravitate towards anything that says military/tactical.
Many yes, but not most. Just as many people gravitate away from anything that says military/tactical. I, and most of the people I know try to avoid marketing like that.
The Military and Para 2 are so good that I didn't let the name keep me away since it doesn't say it on the blade.

The PM2 isn't for me either. I have found that I just don't like the hump bladed knives that Spyderco offers. I much prefer the non-humped blades like the Native, Yojimbo2, Centofante, and Manix. It's a pity because I would love to try all the steels that the PM2 comes in but I just wouldn't use it as much as my others.

Perfection is in the eye of the beholder. Cannot think of a better knife from any company for 100-120 bucks if we are talking std PM2... just my .02

I always seem to be in the minority because I think Manix is a cooler name than paramilitary, but I own a PM2.

My pm2 came in the mail on Saturday, and to be honest I was underwhelmed. I don't see what's so great about the compression lock. I greatly prefer my Manix 2. I'm carrying the para today but I will probably sell it. I have yet to cut anything with it.

Well, the lock just works. It is one of the strongest production locks on the market. A lot of people think that it's a gimmick of some sort. Then again they said the same thing about the Axis, Triad, and others. Then again, I am based as I own a couple of them and really like them.

Can't agree. It's my most carried and favorite pocket knife in the size range.

Sage 1 was underwhelming for me comparitively.

Me too, I had the cf and the blue m390 and It was not for me , maybe they will make a para two framelock liked the military m4 model.
