Am I the only one who disliked micarta?

I kinda like it.

Like them both.. Some knives look better with one or the other.. But sometimes not both.. John
 
OP, you're not alone....I can't stand micarta either, unless its on a custom CQC6 that someone is giving to me...then its cool:-)
 
I would say it depends what sort of Micarta it is. Me I find I like about all kinds of Micarta from the canvas to linen so far if my research is right.

G-10 well I don't know if its me or just the way its done/finished for scales. The few G-10 ones I have feel "off" for me but one feels well like Micarta. I don't know if its a different type of G-10 or just the finish or just PSYCHO-logical.

I guess its just up to each persons personal preferences, good thing the market has a wide variety for every one!
 
I like natural materials a lot and if I have to use a synthetic handle, I prefer micarta (preferably canvas).
 
Micarta #1 in fixed and folder
Carbon Fiber #2 in fixed and folder
G-10 #3 in fixed and folder, prefer rough finish over smooth
Everything else is tied for #4
 
I like titanium, carbon fiber, G10 and micarta. Just depends on the purpose of the knife and the design. IMHO, micarta doesn't complement high-tech milled titanium tacticals all that well (generally speaking); but matched up with a fixed blade bushcrafter/camp/hunter and you can have a classic.
 
For me it depends on the design of the knife itself. CF, micarta, mammoth ivory, G-10, Ti, copper, bronze, wood, aluminum, etc... I like 'em all. Hell I like plastic/FRN too! Would you want a Pac Salt with wood handles?
It all depends on what I want the knife for. What look, and feel I would like it to have.

For me it's about my tastes for each individual knife.

In the end just buy what you like. Don't like micarta? Don't buy it.

I opened up the thread to start a discussion, see people's opinions on it. When someone says if I actually USE a knife I'd understand, then that gets under my skin. It was all discussion until that one person made that comment. Everyone has their own personal tastes and interests, that's the point.

I like micarta. I only have it on acouple of traditional folders and one fixed blade. I like G10 too, but micarta is more appealing.
