Amsterdam Meet 2012 Report

Spyderco 2012 Prototype - Marcin Slysz Techno

Last year’s Techno was the custom knife by Marcin Slysz, this proto has been ‘spyderized’. The Techno was one of my favorites at the meet. The stubby thick little folder handled very nicely. It’s kind of like my Ti Salsa, but leaner and tougher. The knife locked up very nicely and the action was very smooth. The blade was surprisingly thick, but the full flat grind should make it a good cutter. The blue spacer makes for a nice surprise, on an otherwise ‘plain’ looking titanium integral locking folder. This one is high on my wishlist!

Was just about to ask if the Techno was there - good to see that that is coming along.

I was wondering if the Street Bowie was without a hole because they were just displaying one of the originals (this prototype does look identical), but if would be nice if Spyderco would make some FBs without holes (perhaps we'll have to get the US military interested in some of their other models!). As an owner of one of the earlier models, I would like to see a re-introduced one that was slightly different - perhaps a micarta or G10 handle.

The Starmate looks to be a very pratical design - very similar in concept to the (discontinued) Berretta Harsey Tactical. The Flipper is still my favorite, though, and thanks to the designer himself for announcing the specs.

Spyderco 2012 Prototype - Ed Schempp Tuff

The Tuff has been making the rounds as a concept and prototype for quite a few years now. Compared to the crude concept model from four meets ago, this is a very refined design. I like the dimples much better than the more ‘spikey’ texture from last year’s meet. The fuller in the blade remains a very impressive feature on this folding knife.

And that's all folks, I ain't got not any new prototype pictures left. Well, there was the gray G-10 Jester sprint run, but that's been out for a while right? I could do that one next week, when I get back from the IWA show in Germany, I gotta go pack for that actually.

GodDAMN there is some cool stuff in the works. Thanks very much for posting this stuff, Mr. Blonde.

Man, will I have some deciding to do. I see way to many that I want.

A big thanks to you Mr. Blonde:thumbup:

Thanks Wouter!!!

Sal, any comment on blade steel in the Tuff? Marked S30v instead of 3v :(....

Thanks

Edit: nevermind, I think I figured it out :D.

I asked Eric about the steel in the Tuff, he confirmed the production piece is CPM 3V.
