An ambitious folder.

Thanks. I was interested in the original design but I'm limited by local laws to only carry blades under 3".

.

I think all but JAXX shipped, his are coming to me! :D

;)

 Way to give me a minor heart attack!;):D:D:D
Thank you for the news of shipping, giannip68! I followed the link and saw the images on that other forum and WOW, they look great!! :)

Dear all, this marvelous über-Sebenza arrived today in Belgium. It's absolutely splendid, made with obvious love and eye for detail.
A review is for soon, for now just a few quickly made pictures, including one with an Endura, to give you a better idea of the size.

I have read quite a few people ask for a smaller version but to me that defeats the purpose of the design a little bit. It was designed to be a tough as nails, strong folder with the monolithic design and the rotoblock lockbar 'lock', as well as the thick blade (0.177"). I guess if they made a smaller version then I would like to see it be more along the lines of a gentleman's folder which doesn't need to be real tough. Maybe more like the Scott Cook Lochsa which is the only other Ti monolithic knife I know of.

Just curious if anyone else feels the same way? Or if you would just be interested in a scaled down version?

I think there is a misconception that a shorter knife just can't be tough. Either way I would like to try the knife out and I'm not going to risk a felony which is what I could face if I break that law. I'm yet to find a task (within reason of using a folding knife) that a Small Sebenza or 3" XM18 can't handle.

...

Appreciate the pictures.

A little smaller than I thought it would be, though the handle looks hand-filling.

Meanwhile I added a concise video clip about this wonderful design to my list of video reviews:

88. Lion Steel SR-1 Ti: an ambitious folder

Enjoy, and I hope this clip slightly compensates for waiting for the knife to arrive in the USA!

Nice video review! ...It does compensate slightly (;)) as I await mine to arrive on this side of the pond. :D Thank you!

Will the steel on this one actually turn color from food prep? D2 doesn't really do that. ay least the D2 that Benchmade is using.

If it does develope a slight patina, I'm pretty sure that it's nothing that something like Mothers mag & aluminum polish or Flitz couldn't quickly remove. :)

Well, I haven't tried it yet on food. It is true that Sleipner, like D2, has a fair amount of Chromium which helps to keep it "relatively stainless". I kinda expect it to eventually get a slight patina, like my ZDP knives get after regular use on food, but nothing to really worry about.
(edit) meanwhile I added a similar clarification to my video.

All in all, I think that this is an interesting off-beat alternative to a Sebenza. And the full titanium handle is really special, you just keep on examining it.
