Well now I have to decide if I need to order another one. This is got to be the best deal I've seen and experienced in a long long long time. Just got it a few minutes ago and am still going over but Damn, this knife has alot of custom features for a production price tag.

I'll try and get some pics up this evening after work. You folks out did yourselves in Quality with this knife. And, you've earn yourselves a repeat customer. I've already picked out a couple in your catalog that I'll be inquiring about later.

Oh and btw....will the black on black SR1 that I saw in the catalog be offered in the 3rd run? It looks smokin cool!:D

Oh and one more thing.....appears that this is a zero edge? Regardless, it is air bleeding sharp!

In another forum there were some questions about how the Rotoblock actually works, so I made a short video. It's my very first knifetube, so be gentle. ;)

Very nice score! That lock closes with authority or the audio is exaggerated. The rotoblock looks like a really nice feature.

Audio and video are unaltered. It really does snap closed like that.

I arrived late for this dance...

What would be the cost, including s/h, to get one here - to the SE USA?

Now, what type of blade metal - and spine thickness - is used?

Does it come convex-edged?

What is the delivery schedule for new orders?

Thanks!

$390, or thereabouts.

Sleipner steel, a bit like D2 but (even) more corrosion resistant, close to 5mm.

Does it come convex-edged?
yep.

What is the delivery schedule for new orders?
Check their site, but I think it's October at the earliest.

I may be wrong but Sleipner looks a lot more like A2 than D2.

A2: 1% C 5% Cr
D2: 1.5% C 12% Cr
Sleipner: 0.9% C 8% Cr

Interesting knife - nice video. I am considering taking the plunge. I guess, already having so many nice Ti framelocks, like my BM 630/635, 760, & 790, not to mention the partial Ti framelocks like the BM 755, ZT-0301, and Boker Haddock, I don't know that I 'need' another one. Of course, wanting it is the problem!

In just over a month, a monumental point will be reached in my life... after 46+ yr of contributing, I'll finally be 'taking' from SS!! I should do something monumental with that first check... it is a milestone. Maybe by then I will have read the 500+ posts here! That is a nice looking knife... and I have some history with Italian CNC machines... and, before then - Alfa Romeo's (NINE!) and one Fiat. Gee, I hope that knife isn't like an Alfa - leaving an oil trail and constantly needing parts!

PS Anyone know what they use for a pivot washer/bearing?

I'm surprised you just saw this thread, it has been quite popular. The washers are white so I assume nylon. It is one heck of a knife with some features that you won't find on any other knife.

I am really impressed with the blade steel. It holds a great edge, much better than any D2 or A2 I have ever used (although I only have 1 example in each). In fact, so far I would say it holds an edge close to S90V and is VERY wear resistant. I have sharpened it a few times and stropped it a lot and the original grind marks on the edge are still visible with just the high spots being polished. From my experience it would have put a completely new edge on something like S30V but this has not worn down that far yet. I also have not seen any sign of discoloration or a patina and have not oiled the blade at all down here in humid Florida. I have also spent a lot of time at the coast with lots of salt air.

I don't know if I will ever use both, but I'm glad I got 2. Also, there will be an aluminum version at some point and there is talk of a Spyderco version. The all black model is aluminum and if I remember right was about 21 grams lighter than the titanium. I was one of the few people that got to see drawings of the Spyderco concept and it is basically the same but with a hole. Sal also said he wanted to go for the Ti handle, although I have no idea how any of that is progressing now as it was a couple months ago. I don't think I have heard anyone say that don't like it and there have been very few complaints about anything about the knife. I'm holding mine right now.

Ooohhh... I would be all over a Spyderhole version of this knife!
SHUT UP! :grumpy:

(Seriously. Don't ever speak of it again. It would add nothing to this knife but it would (as always) decrease its structural integrity. Regardless, as if a Spyderhole would suddenly transform this knife from something unattractive into something you really dig.)

Maybe you did not know yet (i think you do;)) but Sal Glesser (spyderco) did mention a collaboration with Lionsteel.
So if you like it or not there may be a "spyderco sr1 "type of knife.
And it will have a hole like it or not:D.
It has enough room for it:eek:.

I do not think a Spyderhole would fit this design at all. Maybe with a different blade style...

Not with a hole made on the blade but maybe in the blade would not look to bad.

Something like this.
