Looks like a fantastic time guys! I'm so jealous. I love hanging out with W&SS'ers. We all just seem to get along :D

Ray,

Nice pics! I can feel the heat from the trail through the screen!

I took this on my way up at around 9:00 am when it wasn't that hot yet but still hot! At least the sun wasn't beating down directly at the trail like the day before.

RockyWolf im not sure of the name of this one... First time i got it, It was good and i would get it again lol. See if they have the one foot long and about half an inch thick sausage... Thats my favroit on hikes. I just point at it and say how many i want. if you let it sit for a few days in a very cool area it would dry and shrink... lasts a week in the high sierra in the pack with no problems. I know it can last for more then two weeks.
You can always come over here join us for a few hikes and then i would show you some great Russian Deli. We would get some smoked trout and herring a few diffrent cheeses and breads lots of vegtables. Get some Russian mustard Then you can put some great patina on your knife cutting everything and spreading the mustard on the bread... You had to see the patina on my Mora lol
Sasha

Oh that would be fun, Sasha. Bear is a good guy to talk to, I have 2 of Ray's knives, and I bet the rest of the group are terrific people. I might have to vacation out there!

Thanks for the photos gentlemen!

To answer the gear question above: My tent is an older (6 yrs?) Tarptent solo model with the floor, netting, and vestibule. Weighs 24 oz. as I recall.

Cool, I thought it looked like a Tarptent. How do you like it? I have been eying the Tarptent Rainbow. How does it hold up in the rain, and how is the condensation inside the tent?

I'm happy with the Tarptent. It has held up to high winds out on the Channel Islands and in the desert. It has handled rain in the mountains well, although I've never had it in a real monsoon downpour. It has also taken about a four inch snow load---but that's about its limit. You need to knock the snow off it when it gets to several inches.

The mesh net all around the bottom has meant no condensation problems for me.

I am able to get my pack inside the tent with me so it is relatively roomy. I can just barely sit up in it but I'm very long in the torso.

The bottom of the bug netting provides an effective seal against most insects but a very persistent field mouse once got in there on two separate nights.

I've had it on a bunch of 9-day backpacking trips and many shorter excursions.

Noticed a few spots of poison oak today, but nothing serious. There was a lot of it along the trail and I was wearing shorts. Hopefully I'm not as reactive as when I was younger.

Anybody else pick up any on the trip?

Just saw "the unborn" last night (which aside from Megan Fox was a waste of time), and those potato bugs popped up a bunch of times. I had a friend in college eat one...nasty:barf:.

Sasha pounded down a grub at Bush Bash I but even he wasn't enticed by that 'tater bug!

Dave you got a brother in your misery i got some PO on my arms... The thought to eat the did cross my mind. But it wasnt hard to change my mind lol. He just didnt look appetizing what so ever...
StingRay i too been looking at the Rainbow but also been thinking for a few more oz's get the Rainbow2... You had to see how fast the Dave's tent went up.. From the looks of this tent i would feel much better to buy from the company.
