An over night with the wss crew

Great photos...you guys looked like you had a great time. This is another reminder for the rest of us that getting out is much more enjoyable with friends...and what better friends than WSS:D I'll be hitting up the WSS members in GA and the surrounding areas after my deployment. Thanks again guys and keep it up!

I enjoyed the photos and wished I could have been along. Um... that is, until I saw the photo of the thermometer! You folks are tough. I really loved the photos of the picnic table; you brought quite a bunch of food!

I think it might have been a better day to take a motorcycle ride.... ;)

Thanks for sharing your trip photos.

Thanks for understanding the big picture here. I wish more could have made it out that weekend even if it wasn't with us. Get out and just do it. Work the rest of your life...but enjoy yourselves and MAKE TIME!

You are welcome and yes it was hot but at that moment there was no other place I wanted to be than hiking with good people and enjoying the outdoors.
Sasha brought lots of food but it really brought us all together and that is a nice thing. Thanks for the Bagles!

That looks like an awesome trip fellas!

Pretty damn hot though:eek: Ofcourse Gina didn't cool it down any:D

Bear,

I think I also took a couple skeeter hits on the back but the itchy points on my legs are poison oak. No biggy---they're small spots.

I wanted to add that Victorinox was the big hit of the party, besides the Yukon Jack!

Dave had a Rucksack and OHT Plain edge, Ray had a Huntsman, and I took my Hiker with me.

After playing with the the OHT that Dave had, I dicided to get one as well... That knife felt great in the hand for a folder. But i might get the workchamp on Dave recommendation. I got you all beat i as i got stung by a bee on top if it all.
Reuben the knife pics you post are great you realy make the knives look good.. What you should do is get some of Dave knives take pics and post for everyone to see.. Dave got some Realy great knives and what makes them even better is that he used most of them..
Reuben you are welcome on the bagels but i need to teach you to enjoy food more lol

I will post some pics of the OHT I just took for a project and about the food, some ladies have tried to do that even to the point of spoon feeding me.

Did you get that email I sent on all that light gear?

-RB

Yes i did get the email and been looking at it. Today i been looking at some of my gear to figure out what i can cut out. Over all i want to lose atlist 10lb. On the trip including the water i carried i had over 53lb. But water is one thing i rather not cut on.. From listening to how you set up your pack. What you carry i think i can cut 15lb over all and about 10lb on longer trips which is alot.

Hey guys I didn't get any poison oak at all. Remember I said I had a feeling I was immune?? I was wearing shorts and I wasn't even trying to avoid them on the trail.

I just got back from a day at the beach with my wife and nephew. I got really burned even though it was pretty cold there. I guess I'm not immune to sunburn:D

Ray dont take it personly but i dont like you no more, cause you are immune to PO lol..... It sure was a good day for the beach..

Lucky Filipino blood. Ray what was the flashlight you had? It was crazy bright, I thought I was on COPS again!

I remember the heat of summer hiking in that area when I lived in the Antelope Valley years ago. Glad I'm in the cooler Northwest now (well, warm this week).

The snake looks like a common Gopher snake as all snakes swim ~;-)

What a wonder trip guys, thanks for taking the time to share the adventure with us! Sigh.. last two years of so, I have been unable to get away for even a weekend in the woods....... but it is sure time to get back there.

Thanks again!

Ray,

I used to occasionally train at the beach with my buddies from the Filipino martial arts academy. They would always laugh at my long sleeve shirts, SPF 50+ sunscreen, and wide-brimmed hats. They had MUCH better sun tolerance than I did but, as you point out, everyone eventually burns.

To justify all my sun protection, I used to explain to my Filipino friends that my people evolved for sneaking up to English coastal villages on foggy nights. We didn't favor fighting in the sun!:D

Great pics and write up guys! I really enjoyed it.

Surprised Joezilla hasn't showed yet to make the correction about the snake though - it's a garter snake, not a water snake. But they do like to hang out in and around water to hunt for fish, frogs, toads, etc.

Great pics everyone. Thanks so much for sharing your adventure with us.

We recently adopted a 2 y/o from China, so it'll be a while until we can get out hiking and camping again. Until then, I will live vicariously through the adventures of others.

Thanks again!
