It seems that unhappiness with Teti's claims as to his military service is getting somewhat critical for his media career.

LOS ANGELES – The fallout continues for Joseph Teti, the star of Discovery's "Dual Survivor," who was booted from the Special Forces Association last week over claims he inflated his military service. Since its formation in 1962, only ten people have been involuntarily removed from the non-profit, which functions as a fraternal organization for active and retired U.S. Army Special Forces soldiers.

This week, Cabela's hunting and sporting goods chain, which sponsored the reality star, severed their relationship with Teti. "In light of the Special Forces Association's revocation of Joe Teti's membership, Cabela's has ended its association with Teti," the company stated on its Facebook page.

According to Military Times, Teti has been added to the "Special Forces Poser Patrol" Wall of Shame, and the watch maker Casio, which signed Teti in August to promote their new line of Pro Trek watches, is reviewing their association with him.

The trouble started with an appearance on "Dual Survival," in which he claimed to have sniper and airborne qualifications, and again when he asserted that he was a combat veteran. Other service members said he technically never served in combat.

Teti told the Army Times that he served in a government counter terrorism unit "doing direct action missions right alongside Tier 1 assets." But Scott Hughes, an administrator at the Fake Warrior Project, and one of the first to call out Teti, isn't buying it. "Joe is making money off these false claims and that is a problem," Hughes told FOX411. "He is now claiming that his membership ran out, but he was sent a certified letter and told he had 30 days to appeal the claims against him, but he didn't do that."

Longstanding member of the Special Forces Association, retired Army Sgt. Major George Davenport, has since called Teti "an embarrassment to the Regiment."

Teti did not respond to FOX411's requests for comment, but has defended himself against the allegations on his official Facebook page. "I have never commented nor have I posted in any media information pertaining to medals I have or don't have, or service that I did or did not perform," he stated. "I do call myself a combat veteran, which I am, and this has been used by some to discredit me and make it appear I am a person of Stolen Valor. This is not the case." Teti insists that he provided Discovery will all the documents to backup his claims, and that he is the victim of a "smear campaign." He also says there over a dozen fake pages and resumes and Internet posers claiming to be him.

According to his official biography, Teti is a combat veteran of both Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan. He claims to be a graduate of over 30 formal schools and during his service "planned and conducted a broad range of special operations missions covering the entire operational continuum." These missions "gave the President of the United States an option when overt military and/or diplomatic actions were not viable or politically feasible."

While many both within and outside of the Special Forces community are urging Discovery to fire Teti, the network declined to comment on the situation.

Ironically, Teti was cast on the show as a replacement to Army veteran David Canterbury, who was let go from the show over allegations he lied about aspects of his military service.

Several other reality shows too have dealt with situations of "stolen valor."

Seems like signing up for one of these shows really gets the spotlight on the signee.

As much as it disgusts me, using what has gone before as a guide, I doubt it will hurt him much.

The process:

1] Evoke an appeal to a deity. Something along the lines of “I'm an honest god fearing man and I slipped. Look to The Big Book of Plops for examples of how one can learn to forgive”.

2] Generate salt of the earth imagery amongst the great unwashed = “I'm only a poor honest worker just like you. I don't normally behave like this, I was doing it for my family.

3] Snivel and use the method of tenacity to repeat #1 and #2.

4] Wait a bit 'till someone dops a few flakes of food, a bridge, and a new diver into their bowl, and while their attention is diverted creep back up round the U-bend.

I see that last guy has teamed up with ESEE. Wonder who this guy will buddy up with next.

Teti is losing sponsors and endorsement deals as we post. And that's a good thing. He's a liar who claimed skills, training, and experience he didn't have for monetary gain.

“One, I wanted to be a good role model for kids. My second goal was to represent the special operations community as a whole in a good light,” Teti, co-star of Discovery Channel’s “Dual Survival,” tells Military Times.

He blew that.

Here is what I don't understand. As you come up in the military and especially the SOF realm you will be humbled at some point. With experience comes humility. I have been to several SERE and wilderness survival schools. I have no qualms admitting that I have learned a ton from service members and civilians that have never been shot at or even near a combat zone. Why is that not enough. Why do people insist on possessing the entire deck of cards. I have been shot at jumped out of planes and dove in hazardous conditions. But I will be the first to admit that right now there is an Air Force guy somewhere who will strait up embarrass me when it comes to survival and bushcraft tactics.

Generally speaking guys who leave tier one units do not exploit their experiences and time served in said units. It's not like claiming you we're a quarter back for Michigan. Theses are organizations that have their own checks and balances.

If you are a great SERE guy or survival guy then go with that. You do not have to be both a race car driver and master mechanic to have validity.

As for Teti I thought something was up when he decided to square off with a boar armed with a makeshift spear. Not to bright in my humble opinion. Seems like a bear grills stunt.

I'll keep watching less

Quite professionals are, well, quite. I actually thought Teti was was an obvious embellishment sooner than I had suspicion of Canterbury. Just another reason why I stopped watching all of that garbage. It's my experience, that there's more knowledge in one or two threads over on BCUSA then in a whole season of that stuff. To each his own I guess.

I may put in to be his replacement. I know an IT guy who sold SOCOM some printer cartridges years ago so I must be qualified.

Just bring back Cody and call the show Solo Survival. No fake drama just outdoors footage and skills. I'd rather watch Cody pick berries any day than see Joe go ninja on a pig or Dave kill on obviously just released porcupine with an oar. Just MHO.

:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

If they really want to have a dual survival, just team up Cody with Les Stroud.

Or there's probably more old timers up in the hills of Appalachia who know more about how to get by in the woods than a handful of these military yahoo's put together.

Or there's probably more old timers up in the hills of Appalachia who know more about how to get by in the woods than a handful of these military yahoo's put together.

Here’s an example, taken from Horace Kephart’s Our Southern Highlanders.

Our mountaineers habitually notice every track they pass, whether of beast or man, and “read the sign” with Indian-like facility. Often one of my companions would stop, as though shot, and point with his toe to the fresh imprint of a human foot in the dust or mud of a public road, exclaiming: “Now, I wonder who that feller was! ’Twa’n’t (so-and-so), for he hain’t got no squar’-headed bob-nails; ’twa’n’t (such-a-one), ’cause he wouldn’t be hyar at this time o’ day”; and so he would go on, figuring by a process of elimination that is extremely cunning, until some such conclusion as this was reached, “That’s some stranger goin’ over to Little River [across the line in Tennessee], and he’s footin’ hit as if the devil was atter him—I’ll bet he’s stobbed somebody and is runnin’ from the sheriff!”

Those skills may be less common than they were a century ago. Belike they still exist.

This may have been posted already, but someone just sent me this link:
TOPS and Teti

Don't have any idea what actually happened, but that has to sting a little.

why cant people just say I have no military experience but I am a survival expert. also why does it matter if some one was in the special forces and why does it seem like they a trying to be celebrities what ever happened to the "quite professional" and why do we think that if they where in the army or special forces they know anything about knife design.

Discovery can call the new show "Dude Survival" :D

Absolute truth. So many times greedy people allow the publicity to overwhelm their real ability to teach or entertain. So many times they ruin their reputations by overhyping it.

I've watched plenty of Canterbury's youtube channel, he's actually very sensible. I suspect Dual Survival forced their roles on him a bit during the show to make it more interesting.
As much as I would love a show starring Cody and Les, it won't happen on Dual Survival. They want the drama, they want the excitement to get ratings.

Canterbury's youtube channel covers quite a bit about wilderness survival and to me it shows that money will be top priority for these producers. Even beside that, it's almost impossible to film a passable show on the fly, hoping interesting shots will drop in your lap. Everything has been thought out before filming or they would just waste a lot of money.

I served and was not an elitespecialforcesninjastealthwarrior. I am proud of my service in the Marines and am always disappointed when I hear of these men that feel the real truth of their service isn't enough. We have have an all volunteer military. People join and are away from families and friends for long periods of time, go to uncomfortable and often dangerous places, do very hard jobs, etc. I appreciate all the things the elite guys do as well as the ones "in the rear with the gear". A innovative and sharp supply NCO is worth thier weght in gold, IMO !
The true things Teti accomplished are impressive and deserve a thumbs up, but the embellishment of his record and experience is so disappointing.
We also are seeing once again that the more one talks about how they used to be an elitestealthninjadeathwarrior, the more likely they are fudging up the truth.
I DO know quite a few former SEALS and have a lot of friends that are active duty. The more experience they have, they less they talk about it.

Well said , and I agree if your a cook be proud you were a cook and have honor in that.

When I got out, the cooks were the ones getting hired in civilian jobs quicker that's the rest of us !
The Marines used to have an MOS of BAKER. I knew a guy who made cakes, pies, etc in the Corps for 6 years and got hired by the Hilton Hotel chain the day he got out. He had some serious skills.

hear hear to the guys in the rear.

At least Dave was able to muster up an apology, although something tells me Teti never will. Admitting one's done wrong and to be accountable takes real man skills.
