First article pretty much everywhere

http://edition.cnn.com/2014/07/17/world/europe/ukraine-malaysia-airlines-crash/index.html?hpt=hp_t1

edit: eyewitness accounts talk about the plane already in flames before hitting the ground. Others saw it being shot down by a missile. Maybe Ukrainian army, maybe Pro-Russian Rebels. Or just maybe a technical failure and both parties in the Ukrainian conflict are trying to exploit it for political goals. Nobody knows at this time.

That planecrash in the Ukraine... damn. If that was shot down as they think it is...

On another note, a Dutch passenger that was on board posted a Facebook update earlier today with a pic of the airplane, saying: 'If it would disappear, this is what the plane looks like', referring to the the malaysian plane that went missing... All of the irony...
I'd say he jinxed the whole plane, I'm sure everyone else's families really appreciate that!

It actually is very sad to hear. I wonder what is going on with Malaysian airlines.

We used to use big trash bags and a wool blanket. Usually good down to below freezing if you set your camp up right.

Looks like my new salary is going to be about $500 a month more so I can actually afford the Rheinhardt khukri when it comes out.:D!

Enjoying a quick lunch at an outdoor burger joint watching the rain and good looking women:)
Looks like you'll be able to buy a whole lot of people the RBK when it comes out.

Good to know. I recently bought a hammock as well, but havent messed with a pad yet. It's summer in Virginia...
Maybe Ill try it out tonight, let you know how it works out.

Sounds good bud!!

Its been hot as heck here in Philly lately as well, i guess im just planning ahead LOL.

Seems like a pad would be a PIA to use in a hammock. Why not use a poncho liner or two. Cheaper than a quilt. I pretty much camp year round here in the sunshine state with 2 poncho liners and a ground pad. There are few days when that's not enough, but I'm good to about 40 with that setup.

Doc

Thats a good idea... I thought about using a couple large trash bags... But the poncho idea is great as well.... Dual use :D

Welcome back Lee. Check out the contest thread!

Funny stuff...

So Neko is outside eating some chicken wings (raw of course), when a cat comes up to the fence..... And Neko starts growling and barking... Then the cat runs alongside the fence and Neko tries to chase it and trips over the grill's legs because he is watching the cat, not where he is running... But it doesnt stop there.... The cat comes back up to the fence as soon as Neko goes back to eating his chicken and each time Neko runs up.... the cat runs off.... Not letting Neko eat.. The cat is screwing with him... Its pretty funny

You had to see it.

Back to work today, took 6 days off and spent 5 at the beach. Had a hell of a trip, I could have lived without the bad@$$ sunburn I am sporting now.. one day my head will actually leave my @$$ and I will remember things like sunscreen. Drank enough beer for 20 men and slept as little as possible, does wonders for the mind and soul! Now just fighting to get caught up...

This sounds like a great time, minus the sunburn... But where is the dang pictures????

In on ten, cause... Umm... I been gone since I-don't-know-when.

The boonies were a lot of fun. Among other wonderments, it turns out that yes indeed, you can clean a trout with a BK-16. Pics later.

The sign sounds good but, according to my wife, you aren't supposed to put protein in compost. I think it attracts flies and you wind up with maggots. Ground up into dog food might be a better choice...

It's not so much the protein but the fat you have to worry about... thus you will be advised to never put milk or cheese in your compost pile, like WW mentioned. The fat gets rancid and not only attracts the wrong kinds of bacteria and bugs, but also larger critters that you don't want hanging around. Fresh fish guts are just about the best thing you can get for a compost pile... when I was a kid my dad used to send me down to the river to catch a mess of bullheads, specifically to chop 'em up and bury them between rows in the garden.

Of course, dog food is one idea for putting trespassers to good use, but it entails a fair amount of work and you still have to deal with the bones. Hogs will take care of everything but the teeth and fingernails. There are a couple videos explaining this, but they're not suitable for this forum ;)

Good to see ya back James!! And glad you had a great trip.... 1 sentence though? Come on man.... What ya do while you were out there???

I been sitting in the house saving money... So im living through your guys' stories right now :D

I never heard about the fish guts!! Thanks for that tip!!! Although depending on the fish Neko may never let them got that far.

Man that water looks great, and there is barely any people at all!!! We went to the beach a few weeks back and it was crowded. Extremely crowded. You couldnt even see the water from where we set our stuff up... and we got there at 9am.....

You must have forgot, but you sent me a PM with a picture wearing your new pink lacey thong before you went on your trip  I tried to forget but its burned into my mind....

Good to see you back, JT!

I really need to get myself a hammock, some day.....

In other news, I just picked 8 cups of Blackberries this morning, Cobbler time!

Does anyone know what happened to Dex? He hasn't been very active lately or getting back to PM's. Eh, I'll give it another couple weeks or so.

Hey Woody, did you ever get that RD 4 back from Auraria? He hasn't been active lately either. :(

Nope, never sent it... Forgot all about it. He was posting quite a bit a few weeks ago, then he kind of faded out..... But then again he is in the Air force, So he could of had training or something during this time.

And hope Dex is OK!!

Pfffff, US intelligence just confirmed it was indeed a Surface-to-Air missile that brought down the civilian airplane...

Edit: and Putin is sayin' it's the Ukraine's fault because they didn't stop their ground offensive in the east. Of their own country. Well...
