That is awesome Todd! Any chance you might start selling them?

Highly doubtful. I don't claim to be much of a leather worker, I just do it out of necessity. This for example was a 4H project me and a friend of mine son did. I might make another one or two for myself but I just dont have time to do a lot of this kind of stuff. Maybe in the future but not any time soon.

Some people just get tired of siting up by the keyboard and decide to stretch out in the hammock while watching TV. Much more comfortable.

Super WW to the hammock! Up up and awwwwwaaaayyyy!

Im jealous. I want to be in a hammock right now.

Speaking of the hammock, the other day i took a nap in it and I had a dream i was out in the woods sleeping in it........ Then someone came up and wrapped me up in the hammock, tied it all up, and sat me over a fire to cook in a cocoon....And i didnt have a knife to cut myself out.....

good times. LMAO, but i bet ill sleep with a knife in my hand when im using it in the woods now LMAO

Another thing though... I put a fan where its blowing air underneath the hammock when im laying in it... On a hot day its hard to beat it. The air chills the hammock and cools you off quick.... But at night i have to turn that fan down to LOW or off completely, otherwise it gets real chilly in there.... I can see why people use those quilts, just a fan blowing makes a huge difference in the hammock... I can only imagine 40°F or lower weather. But those quilts are high dollar. Ill use my mummy sleeping bag... If its going to be too cold ill just use a tent LOL

And away we gooooooooooooooooo! :D

Hammocks rock... Well these parachute type material ones do anyway... Some of those rope ones can be uncomfortable to me. I had a cheap one that was made of something similar to 550 cord and it would dig all into you. The ENO is awesome.

Lol, I would like to think that the hammock would burn through before you cook haha.

When im out in the hammock at my inlaws house, if there is any breeze it gets chilly. I could only imagine how nice a sleep would be with a fan.

Friend used a sleeping pad in the hammock while we were backpacking in the winter. I used a tent. He only had problems keeping warm when he screwed up placing the hammock in relation to the wind.

I just got an Appalachian Hammock. Orange with a OD shell. It hasn't shown up yet though. It should be here sometime before GLIB.

Back to work today, took 6 days off and spent 5 at the beach. Had a hell of a trip, I could have lived without the bad@$$ sunburn I am sporting now.. one day my head will actually leave my @$$ and I will remember things like sunscreen. Drank enough beer for 20 men and slept as little as possible, does wonders for the mind and soul! Now just fighting to get caught up...

In my dream i guess the guy tied me up with some fire resistant rope or something  LOL i dunno...

But i think the hammock material would melt to your skin faster than any rope would burn, then you would be burning as the fire melted through the ropes... At which point you would be pretty burnt up and just fall on top of the fire... A bad way to go LOL

There was a movie... Either Jason or Halloween or one of those scary type movies where a girl was hung up over a fire and burnt in her sleeping bag.... Maybe my brain was sampling dreams from movies LOL

I never have "good" dreams... Well i never remember them anyways. And it seems i only dream (or remember the dreams) when i go to sleep intoxicated.

I dont have a sleeping pad per se, but i tried using my wife's thin yoga pad just to see how well it worked and it was way less comfortable with the pad in the hammock with me, and the pad would slide around and was hard to keep in place... Trying to lay at an angle was more difficult with the pad as well.... This could very well be due to the pad i tried though.

The coldest we will actually go camping these days is in the 50's anyway.... Since we have children.... So i dont think id have much issues with the hammock and my 0° mummy sleeping bag.. I know they say sleeping bags are only rated to that temperature while on a surface, not in a hammock... But i still think the bag would work fine for me in 50° weather... 20-30° i wouldnt bet on it though. 50° and sleeping on the ground i get HOT in that sleeping bag and normally strip to my boxers.... So i think it would work fine for me in the hammock at the same temp and keeping my clothes and socks on. Ill find out before too long.

Good to know. I recently bought a hammock as well, but havent messed with a pad yet. It's summer in Virginia...
Maybe Ill try it out tonight, let you know how it works out.

Seems like a pad would be a PIA to use in a hammock. Why not use a poncho liner or two. Cheaper than a quilt. I pretty much camp year round here in the sunshine state with 2 poncho liners and a ground pad. There are few days when that's not enough, but I'm good to about 40 with that setup.

That planecrash in the Ukraine... damn. If that was shot down as they think it is...

On another note, a Dutch passenger that was on board posted a Facebook update earlier today with a pic of the airplane, saying: 'If it would disappear, this is what the plane looks like', referring to the the malaysian plane that went missing... All of the irony...

We used to use big trash bags and a wool blanket. Usually good down to below freezing if you set your camp up right.

Looks like my new salary is going to be about $500 a month more so I can actually afford the Rheinhardt khukri when it comes out.:D!

Enjoying a quick lunch at an outdoor burger joint watching the rain and good looking women:)
