Angry at CRKT

If you can't fix it, contact CRKT. I had a slight problem, and they made it right and then some!

Newer knives are quite awesome!

Can I ask whats with all of the manufacture's obsession with TORX bits? I mean there is nothing wrong with a flat bladed pivot screw. Emerson uses it and it works perfectly fine. You don't need a TORX bit to secure a knife, there is no reason to tighten your pivot screw that much that requires a TORX bit for your knives.

And that of course, answers the OP's question...

In case you didn't notice, I'm being sarcastic.

Well, I for one am surprised that there has only been a "BUY A SEBENZA!" post as an answer to an odd problem. I think they other posts that take shots at any manufacturer are pretty much par for the course here.

I find it odd too, that so many here have so many problems with CRKT. They seem to have multiple problems, but keep buying even though they are annoyed by them.

( Question: Why do you keep hitting yourself on the head with a hammer"

Answer: Because it feels so good when I stop!)

My experience with CRKT has been that I paid a fair price for what I got.

BTW, to keep it on topic, I think that's a Torx screw. :D

FYI the only place I was able to find a set with small bits was at Sears (Craftsman). Local Home Depots and Canadian Tire didn't have the smaller sizes.

There... I didn't say Torx once!

Edit... D'OH!

A knifemaker and forum member here (STR) has mentioned he had some bad experiences with those drivers from Sears. They seemt o not fit well into the screw heads and end up stripping the screws as well as ruining the drives in the process. For wat it's worth, I'd stick to the Home Depot 8 in 1 mini drivers. They have not failed me yet.

A fantastic little knife adjustment tool:

Gives you all the common sizes of Torx and hex wrenches used in knives, plus some sharpeners for good measure. It's very compact and will tuck in a pocket or backpack without the slightest difficulty.

I picked up a "Masterhand" 8 piece precision screwdriver set from Tractor Supply Co for around $6.00 - and it came with a T6 and a T7 screwdriver. Very handy.

Unrelated - I laugh every time someone posts "Get a Sebenza" no matter what the topic is.:D

I used to buy a few CRKT knives until I started using them and had the edge ruin on green branches. Used other major brands in the same manner and their edge held up.
So there was or is something wrong with the steel. Although the older models I had were pretty well made, otherwise.

I keep hearing these stories, but I have never seen one. My brother beat the hell out of their M16-14D in Iraq and I beat the hell out of it when he gave it to me. It still takes a beating and works fine. Yea, the steel is softer than it is on some other knives so I actually have to sharpen it once in a while  but there's nothing wrong with the knife.
