Angry at CRKT

Just seeing this thread. Did you try a torx? Sometimes those star shaped ones are torx.

:D Because it is the BF way.

you need to play with Benchmade more , I striped so many T screws on Benchmade's its not even funny .

have no idea why they use crappy screws , saving money on screws ?

I LOVE Torx screws. They're impossible to strip.

But with all the tools I have (which are roughly a gazillion), not one fit the pivot screw! I even have one of those comprehensive tool kits you can get at Home Depot -- with bits coming out of one's ears -- and none would fit that, either.

...So I took the knife over to my dad's house. He's got way more tools than I do, but not one of his would fit this damn CRKT.

A lot of talk about tools and you didn't even know about Torx screws?! CRKT is not the problem.

This is what I have,it was bought at the "The Source" formally known as Radio Shack, up here in Canada for $10 when it was on sale.I've found it handy for every type of fastern encountered. Boker hex screws,Emerson philips and flat head screws and the various torx screws used by others.

The same set was also seen at Canadian Tire and Sears.

9 Torx bits (T4, T5, T6, T7, T8, T9, T10, T15, T20), 7 Slotted bits (S1, S1.5, S2, S2.5, S3, S3.5, S4), 4 Philips bits (PH000, PH00, PH0, PH1), 2 Pozi bits (PZ0, PZ1), and 8 Hex bits (0.7mm, 0.9mm, 1.3mm, 1.5mm, 2mm, 2.5mm, 3mm, 4mm).

At least with torx, you don't have to worry, "is it SAE, or is it metric." Just one standard.

I agree that buying CRKT is the primary problem here.
They don't make knives.:p Just shiny bits of tin.
I'd say make sure you have a set with the full range of torx drivers, a lot of sets tend to skip every other size.

Great way to stay on topic.

What a load of crap.

Like everyone else, they make/sell good and bad products.

Most stripping out of heads on screws or the inability to turn them is the lack of the right tool. Sure, some makers tighten them to make sure they don't come out, and some even thread lock them with lock-tite and such. It can be difficult to work on a knife, especially if the maker doesn't want you to.

So does that make their knives crap? Nope.

CRKT has its place in the knife world.

I think he means that they are nearly impossible to strip if you are using the correct size torx bit.

I used the correct torx on my benchmade ( T6; unless this screw was different from all other screws on the body-not pivot ) And it turned about half way then the torx shape gradually got smaller till I gave up in frustration.

Why do they make it so difficult?

Because they know that you love to complain about their products.

Pretty sure that it is a torx bit as are most of my CRKT knives. Of the 27 that I own (more than any other company in my 200+ collection) only the Lightfoot was a stinker, all of the rest have been used (OK not the Mo'Skeeter, that was just a Native ripoff @ $15) and for the price have met all of my expectations. My newer ones seem on par with materials and fit and finish that was laging a few years ago.
