Another contest!!!

Well, I think those that didn't select a water carry system should either have to pee on their shelter or pick a rainy day to test/build it.

:grumpy: I think that those who selected an ax but no knife should have to build a Lincoln Log cabin. In a city park. :D

i have just enough snow out here that its a nuisance and not enough to make anything out of it...we will see:D

I will be building a 4 story shelter complete with plumbing and will do so, with only my axe. PREPARE FOR WAR!!!

well I think its a damn good thing your not running this contest then:D:D:D

Okay. I have decided that I will be peeing on those shelters built by other contestants that did not choose a water carry system. Please, understand this is all in the name of science and W&SS camaraderie and love. Before you ask, yes, yes I do take too many vitamins :D

You do understand that the guylines of my tarp have to be removed and your waterbag has to be empty? You didn't claim water as the third element did you?

You'll be peeing sawdust! Bwahahaha!:D

Log condo? I tink I need a bigger tarp.

If need be, I will fill the water bottle with blood, sweat, and the tears of other contestants. Now, if you had soldered or permanently adhered the guylines to the tarp you can bypass that hiccup (we can decide how you can repay my tip later). Now, if I start peeing sawdust I have larger problems and I will drop out of this contest and visit a doctor ASAP.

water inside of a bottle or bladder doesnt count as an item lol
that would be like taking a sheath but no knife

Or like a tarp with it's Factory guylines removed? :p

I can overcome that with the larger tarp. No guylines needed. It is 30' x 65'! I can make a tepee condo no problem!

Iboschi, none of that dropping out talk, you hear? We are all in this together brother.

Well here it is. Took me about 45min total to gather, build, and test.

Here is the gear I said I would take. (I live in FL, where it got down to 56deg last night, so keeping warm is not an issue here (Was 75deg when I was building). But if it did get cold I could always build a small controlled fire near my shelter with my flint and steel)

Here is the external frame of my shelter.

I then added the garbage bag and found some vines to tie it all together and make the structure more stable.

I added more stability by adding more vine and some more support sticks. Also added some comfort by adding some grass on the bottom.

I then poured about 1 gallon of water over the shelter. I varied where I poured it and the distance to simulate harder rain.

More to come...

Continued...

There were only two parks where water built up. Both of which was outside the sleeping area. If it poured for half a night though those pools might have seeped into my sleeping area. Florida soil adsorbs fast but pools up with tons of rain.

I then tested the strength further by trying to lift it up and move it. After some struggle (because I dug the structure into the ground) I finally got it and moved it and it held up quite well.

And then as always leave no trace. My after picture. You can see a "V" of wet that the water formed.

I have more pics if necessary. This makes me want to go camping.

Still waiting for a day off to take on the challenge. So, if the water in my bladder does't coun't as an item do I get to add an item????

On the first page you picked a knife, your blatter with water, and then fire steel set up. Am I missing something?

I'm in, so long as I can comply. :)

Guys, I am finding myself in circumstances such that I am not able to comply with the contest. I want to withdraw my entry early so that an alternate will have plenty of time to prepare for and perform the requirements. Thank you for the chance to participate Andrew!

Yes. A few posts above it was stated that we can have a water container already to show the waterproofness. So, can I coun't that item out and pick a different 3rd item???
