I only used about 10 feet of the paracord because everything seemed to stick together nicely.
I finished the shelter in about 5 hours but most of the time was spent searching for leaves and pines...which are scarce at this time in the winter here.
I was able to sit on top of the frame and i weigh well over 200 lbs so this can support me and the logs easily. I also left it out over night and that night we experienced winds over 15 mph and the shelter remained intact.
It blocked out the snow that also came that night and it easily blocks out the wind and other precipitation because of the 2 foot side layer.
I will post more pics of the watering of rain on it..if its necessary because of the freezing temps here....

wow this thread got buried for a bit there. ive been hoping to get out and make one soon. im shooting for the next couple weekends.

Woo! Holidays!

Drew, with the shelter, can we use anything we can find lying around, i.e. old cardboard boxes, etc

I also forgot. With so much going on and the number of parts to this one, I'm going to have to bow out. I could probably wrangle up part one, but I can't do all the parts to it Drew. Best of luck to all contestants! I'll follow along on the side lines for the rest of this one.

all my ideas get forgotten................
i had another idea in the knife making section but it hasnt gone far

No way bro! I think I less forgot than just felt OVERWHELMED by the contest when you mentioned it would have multiple parts and this would only be the first.

My shelter is based around urban survival.
It's constructed of stuff you could easily find out the back of shopping centres, in laneways, etc

My tools: Water bladder, Geber Harsey Hunter and fire steel

My Materials: Old cardboard boxes, rubbish bins and rubble

The shelter worked very well.
It took all of 5 minutes to make and it was almost completly waterproof, even after my over the top testing:D

Btw, sorry about the HUGE pics - edit: fixed them

3 good shelters so far, I like the range of surroundings the guys are using to. Almost as if you had to bug out, the first day where still in the city/urban space, then you make it to beyond the city and then you make it to the mountains.

I'm not even in the comp but I'm thinking of adding a shelter to this thread, keep up the good work guys.
