Another Empty Your Pockets Thread

I gotta save up and get me one of them Bensinger knives, that's pretty cool.

Dang Shav!! Hope I don't bump into you on the streets! Actually wait, on second though, I hope I DO bump into you, and either you can show off that JW Scorpion, or we could share IBBBs! It's a win/win either way :b

If I happen upon a woman in the PNW walking with a stick and jingling like a janitors keychain, I'll make sure to say hi, just in case

LoL Scara, Hubby has mentioned that there is no need for him to Conceal Carry, if he ever needs to defend my honor he will ask me to loan him half my EDC. Usually the .357 is replaced by a Ruger SR1911 in a leather Bianchi X1 holster. I almost have my left hand back to full strength and once I am sure I can rack the slide properly I will go back to that in the shoulder holster and the Makarov (in .380 not 9x18) at appendix carry replacing the speed loaders on the belt.

Bawanna, you really ought to get one of JW's Scorpions. I had him make the scales removable, he probably wanted to kill me as I waited till too late to come up with that idea and he had already hardened the tang so had to drill and tap the holes in hardened 80CrV2 but I wanted to be able to have other scales made someday (when the funds become available, if that happens) So he went ahead and did it...probably cursing me every twist of the tap. But he barely even mentioned to me the annoyance and frustration I am sure I caused him. And it is gorgeous, it just flows in the hand so well balanced it just seems to move where I expect it to be when I expect it to be there. And yes, that is a true hamon. In case you can't tell, I am VERY happy with it and can't say enough good things about it or it's Artist.

SG, be happy to run across you and say Hi, just don't step up behind me. I have a tendency to over react to that :D

Hi there! I saw a member posting on the "Recent Additions" thread he just got a Spanish Slipjoint, a "Pallares" brand pocket knife.

I must say I have and use them a lot, since they are handmade a few miles from where I live. I love 'em. The older one of these three (uess which one it is?) is riding in my pocket today side to side with my locking folder and mini multitools.

Great classic Spanish navajas, these Pallares. They remind me a lot of my good old Opinels, which I also EDC a lot!

I actually bought one of those Pallares based on your posts! For like $15 shipped I didn't see why not.

Here's my stuff. This is my "I'm off work today so let's throw a bunch of stuff in my pockets I won't need"

Pistola magazine
Spyderco Salt 1
Emerson horseman
Farmer
Little flashlight
Wallet
Bass picks
Lighter

Shav: Zip Ties:eek: Girl why didnt I think of that! I aint messing with you! Anybody prepared to restrain multiple persons is OK in my book:thumbup: Im gonna add a few of them to my collection as well.
Love that scorpion.
I need to add a real pocket pic. Mine was posted on an extraordinary day before I had my coffee i guess. I dont usually edc while im in the house because I have a Khuk or knife in every room in the house and also a few KLVUKS in the shop so I dont need to edc.
I have to add one of JW's knives as well. He does such great work. When I grow up I wanna be like him:D

I've often said I wanted to be just like him too when I grow up. But I've decided I refuse to grow up so I guess that option went away.

Or Seattle? About the same...........................

It occurs to me that quite frequently on weekends I dress down so to speak wearing sweat pants, real comfy for a full time sitter.
But horrible for anything one normally (I know define normal) would wear on the belt like IBBB's, 1911's, etc.
I generally still have the ankle rig but quite frequently neglect to wear it, guess I'm getting soft and careless.

I figure all the more reason to get me one of Spectre's Always Ready Knives. Usually on the weekends is when I need a knife the most and don't have one without digging in my front bag. The ARK would solve that wicked quick.

Hoping to get a few, my Marine for sure with Spectres guidance and my son and son in law, and myself of course. One works for the railroad and the other is a long haul trucker. Both not allowed in most instances to travel in sheep mode IE: nekkid. Truck driver can usually get away depending on where he's going, much of the east coast and of course California kind of iffy.

If I come into some money (not likely) I order a few to donate to military guys getting deployed. Gotta take care of our troops.

I discovered the ARK myself when I looked through the Spyderco 2016 catalog. I rather want one, but at the moment I don't have a strong need for one or the money to spare. Of course I say that just days after buying a DOTD Foxy Folly. I don't tend to need a knife I can shower with, and I do have my CRKT Obake for most defensive situations. Still trying to figure out a good way of carrying something larger.

Well, most of us hopefully aren't in high-risk situations, but a rust-proof knife is useful. :)

We're all in high risk situations every single day. The world is full of crazies. All it takes is one and you never know when that will be.

Ok, maybe I'm in the crazy category myself but even though I'm a full time sitter, I'm still a sheepdog. A handsome sheepdog too I might add.

I haven't had anything in H1 yet...my endura (vg10) and PM2 (s35vn) are both a little brown in spots from carrying them doing hill sprints and such-my little Perrin shark is too.

:D
Zip ties...or of the 1" wide compact rolls of 100mph/Gorilla tape. Got the idea from a friend of mine who was DIA downrange, and got a fair amount of use out of it.

Yeah, that kind of thing is why I didn't carry my IBBB for very long. Except I wasn't doing sprints or anything vigorous, it was just ordinary sweat. My sweat is hilariously bad for metal. Back when I still played violin and viola I had to replace my strings more often than most people because my sweat would wear them out quickly. Doesn't help that my apartment seems to cause metal rust. Even my Sirupati which I rubbed down with a Rem Cloth has surface rust spots on the spine. And I've tried CorrosionX to deal with the rust without much success. And it turns out CorrosionX does attract dust.

Ha! Now I got ya on the Gorilla tape! Your friend is right! That is the best stuff in the world! Better than even 3M. I have a roll of Gorilla duct tape everywhere I have a KLVUK! Kant go wrong there. Makes great bandaids too. If you got KLVUKS, duct tape and superglue aint nothin you cant do:D

Just a word to the wise on Gorilla tape: it's phenomenal stuff, but it don't stick for jack in the freezing cold. Tried to fix a mailbox that got taken out by a plow one year, it was about 10°F and that tape wouldn't even stick to itself. Had to grab the old fashioned duct tape. Ndog, I know that's not too big an issue for you, but there are some folks here who actually live in places where it gets cold :D

Edit: Scara, I seem to have a similar issue with my sweaty paws. I love my IBBB too much not to carry (unless the Baby FF boots it from EDC), and I gave up on preventing patina. I use my knife balm on the blade and handle, but it's more for the wood than the exposed tang.

The metal on the handle is almost black now, looks like this. Not as purrty as when it first came, but it still cuts like a champ.

That's a sign of honest use. Like a well worn pistol, kind of a badge of honor.

I know people who cause rust to everything they touch, I'm so glad I'm not one of them.
I always take a silicone cloth to guns I or others touch to prevent that.

My IBBB does just slightly discolor now and then. I just take some fine sandpaper and clean it up. Keep it oiled just like the blade.

A person with large hands could make some slightly larger handles and enclose the tang so you don't see the metal.
Might be an option.

SingleGrind what can you tell me about this blade and the Kami markings on left side? It was in your photobucket...

Haha ya that's my beloved Katunje by Keshar Lal's son, Arjune. Still hasn't been used yet, soon though. It's a beautiful blade, but Auntie Yangdu ain't no wall hanger :D
