ANOTHER @%^!@ Fake Sebenza!!??!!

Plus judging by the recent decline in Chris Reeve products, and the incline in some well produced fakes, maybe some of us will be better off buying the knock-offs haha. They look to have screw heads with centered threads at least.

Go and take your stupid trolling else where.....

lol. Should put your efforts to something actually philanthropic. Not defending a company's honor who doesn't really give two craps about you unless you're buying their 400 dollar knife.

I mean, you really feel the need to tell someone off for buying a fake knife and then call them a loathsome individual? You need a reality check.

The "decline in CRK products" is a HUGELY false statement that some seem to throw around like they "know". At Blade of this year, an employee(not saying who) told me flat out, that this past year, CRK made and sold more knives than they have ever at any time during CRK's history.

Most of us here on the CRK forum are really passionate about Reeve's knives, so we would appreciate if you would just go away.

Yea, I mean who'd of thought that in a CRK sub forum on an internet forum dedicated to knives that people would be passionate about them?

And who'd of thought that people might care enough to point out knock offs in an effort to prevent people from paying hard earned money on a cheap imitation products?

I want to say thank you for the reality check and I think I can speak for all of us when I say you have gone out of your way and put forth the effort to show us the light with your insightful and intelligent contribution here in this thread. Bless you sir. Should I add another eye roll or is the sarcasm showing through my words alone?

CRK steps up time and time again. I don't know what happened to you, maybe you had a poor experience with them, maybe you purchased one of these fake knives, maybe you have a part in selling these fake knives, or maybe you just weren't hugged enough as a child.

CRK makes a great knife and they take care of their customers. We enjoy these knives and their companies service. We also like to chat about them and when a fake one pops up we care enough about others to point them out and do what we can to make sure they don't get purchased.

Passion. Look up the word and see what your missing.

Happy Fourth guys!

I must agree that in a Chris Reeve Sub Forum, I would expect Chris Reeve enthusiasts.

I don't support that sort of practice but I'd rather they leave the logo off and not list it as real. At least then there is less chance of an unsuspecting buyer giving them money.

EDIT: This is in regards to the original post

I know the seller. He's a legit dealer. You can look him up through international dealers on the CRK website. He runs a store front called S&R knives and an eBay store called caledone2. I've bought all my CRK'S from him. I will however contact him about that perticular Sebenza to see if it is indeed missing its logo. Neat!

If that's a real Sebenza, like I believe it to be, that is missing it's logo. That makes it even more valuable in my book.

I have said it before and I still think it. I'm sure these fakes are made in some of the same plants that other knife companies like Spyderco, CRKT, Cold Steel, and many others use.

These fakes are well made. Yes I know they don't even close in comparison to a real CRK, but they are not making these out of a garage either. These are made using expensive machinery like a big overseas knife manufacturer would use.

I have stopped buying china junk knives long ago and I say everyone needs to to blackball china made knives. Call spyderco and the other companies that use these overseas facilities and tell them to make the knives in the us and stop doing business with these places.

Basically, even buying a china or Taiwanese knife from a legit company can still do the knife community wrong

You ain't the only one, mate....

Maybe you should and go start a sub-forum somewhere else.

It's just a shame to take a design a company put alot of thought and creativity into and pump out a knock off of it and charge a couple hundred for it OR try to passed it off as legit and charge a full $400 or so.

When it's about money and not the quality of craftsmanship or the passion of artistry, then why buy it when you could save a couple hundred more dollars and purchase a knife that you know will last a lifetime, is backed by a warranty, and is an honest creation someone built with skill and passion?

No matter how "nice" these knock offs are they are still and always will be riding on the backs of the real thing.

Socom, Sal would eat you alive. So would all of the US employees that have a job because of all the steel that is shipped to Taiwan. Spyderco has a great partnership with Taiwan, the people in Taichung separate themselves from the China or Chinese made knives. It actually does the knife community well to buy from other areas. Keeps the prices for all of us within this community to be able to purschase a Sage 1 like I did. If made here the cost would be double or more. And that would hurt the companies we so much love and enjoy. Being able to up my cost for knives, to witness the quality, eventually introduced me to CRK. Which I never though I would ever buy. Pride of ownership and enjoyment. Just because we buy knives, doesn not make us an expert on anything. Enjoy it for yourself. Leave the "US only" out of it. We are a great nation because we have helped and opened up our country to many other people. Even Chris Reeve himself. We wouldn't have half of what we do without it. So, maybe someone should call you instead.

This post flatters greatly those that buy fakes, knockoffs, counterfeits or dodgy goods. Do you really think they go through that thought proccess ? That there is smart folks thinkin' ways....:p:thumbup:

You're clearly an expert in business and related logistics.

A shame is a shame, called by any other name is still a shame.

I'd be more inclined to argue the moral depths of purchasers as opposed to it being a matter of knowledge or intelligence. You'd have to have atleast a base level knowledge of CRK to want to purchase a CRK product. Whoever buys these either thinks they got a heck of a deal or they know it's not legit.

I'm inclined to lean towards the latter. Why would anyone drop even a couple hundred dollars on anything without doing a little homework on it first? After a few searches anyone could tell by the description alone these smell fishy.

When I was brand spanking new to CRK I had the fear of accidentally purchasing a fake someday. Those fears were soon put to rest with a simple click on "show item description ".

I'm not the brightest star in the sky, nor am I a wealth of cutlery knowledge, so if I can spot one I'm fairly certain anyone could :D

The sage wouldn't cost twice as much, or more of what it does now if they started making it here. If it really did cost them double then maybe they need to fix something. I like Spyderco and all but a US Ti framelock doesn't have to cost that much more. Street price of a BM MPR is around what, $140. And before the mini skirmish was disc. You could get them all day long for $135 on the forums and $160 from a store. So don't say it can't be done and those knives blow the sage away.

I'm not saying that company X,Y or Z uses the same facility. But I'm sure some big name companies get their knives made buy thke same place thats putting out this junk.

I don't have a problem with overseas made knives, but China is another story.

I would like to think that we are all in agreement that if we could somehow find out which facility was making these CRK fakes, that we wouldn't buy anything else made from the same place.

I agree with you Socom on the CRK thing. The only reason I bring up the Taiwan issue, is because Sal has gone over it again and again. If you do not believe me, do some research on your own on the forum and Spyderco forum. Not sure he would lie about the marriage between the US and Taichung Spyderco's. Without both, you would lose American jobs and cost would be more.

I am informed by the Owner that we are not to post links to eBay auctions - period. As always, suit yourselves, but he will get the last word.
