ANOTHER @%^!@ Fake Sebenza!!??!!

That is the most pathetic fake I have seen.

At least there is no mention of Chris Reeve and it is very easy to distinguish from the real thing with the S30V marking on the blade, black hardware, stainless frame. etc...

The clones with the logo are the ones that bother me most.

I was approached yesterday and asked if I was interested in a Sebenza for $200. How do I know if it is a real Sebenza?

I would find it hard to believe that it is a real Sebenza, especially at that price. Does it have the original box and birth card? If not, I would most likely pass. I am curious how and where you were approached though. If it is real there is the possibility that it was stolen

One of my co-workers asked me if I would be interested, I have not seen the actual knife, or asked if it is available to be seen, but I will be talking to him this afternoon. i will ask about its box and papers, and who is selling it. I will also ask what markings it has. I know nothing about the knives other than their reputation.

If this turns out to be suspicious, is there a serial number somewher I can record and report?

I would not be as reluctant since it was an acquaintance that approached you about the knife.
There are no serial numbers on CRK knives. Some of the earlier knives and limited editions are numbered, but at $200 I doubt this is one of those.
If you doubt the authenticity, see if you can take a few photos. Post them on this forum and I am sure a number of forum members will give you their input.
Good luck! $200 is a great price if it is legit and in good shape.

If no box or papers I'd pass. Could be a fake that your buddy may believe to be the real deal.

When you look at it open it up and look in between the scales.

Towards the bottom of the knife there should be a letter and a number stamped into the scales. i.e. B 11. Just something to look for. Good luck:thumbup:

To those that wonder why we knife enthusiasts want to report and try to get these fakes removed:

If you really care about the knife industry you would do the same thing. Fakes have to business being sold or distributed within the U.S.

If anything it raises awareness so others don't get scammed into buying a fake or counterfeit.

If you don't think these little things help then you probably have the same mentality as why shower because you will just get dirty again. Every little bit helps so we should all chip in and try to help the industry and others.

This:thumbup:

If you don't feel the same, that's cool, everyone has their view on things. However, why take the time to log in, type a response, and submit a reply that is negative or to the effect of nothing can be done? To me it seems pointless and an unnecessary stick in the mud thing to do. What is gained by that other than raining on another's parade?

"Your passionate about something and that upsets me"

Should put your efforts to something actually philanthropic. Not defending a company's honor who doesn't really give two craps about you unless you're buying their 400 dollar knife.

The point is NOT whether Chris Reeve "gives two craps about you." Rather, it illustrates your feelings about basic honesty, ethical behavior, and piracy of products in general. And, where there's smoke...

every time a thread like this is started, it sells more fakes, i guarantee if the topic was just left alone, and posts regarding these fakes stop, and if everyone stopped posting pictures of these knives the sales would go down. all that's being done by bringing this type of thing up is getting people interested in buying these fake knives! they are too good looking and cheap to not entice people to get them, the best way to stop this is simply ignore it, don't give anyone ideas about getting them. trying to be a hero and report this and that is only making things worse in my opinion!! a lot of people don't know where to get these things, every time a thread starts its like a sales thread, don't buy me! don't go near them! bla bla bla, all that does is sell more fake knives!!!!! that's my 2 cents.

That is ridiculous that is one of the first fake models to come out and are not worth much. Although it is more believable, it is still nowhere near the accuracy some of the fakes out there have.

Yeah, this one is ridiculously obvious. I'm sure the seller is bidding up the product himself as well. Otherwise, I feel bad for the people bidding on it if they don't realize it is a fake. On the other hand, I really feel bad for CRK that other people are making money off of his name, product design and reputation.

Everyone who sees this needs to report on it. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Custom-Chris-reeve-titanium-handle-silver-pill-stone-wash-folding-knives-/251101207979?pt=Collectible_Knives&hash=item3a76cc5dab#ht_1376wt_1199

The fakes are good looking and cheap? LOL

I would have to disagree, I think it keeps people informed, so others that are just getting into the CRK game can decipher a real and fake and know exactly what to look out for.

That's like saying cancer will go away if you stop talking about it. People need to get involved and actually report these fakes and it will put a small dent into this crap, which might help in the long, might not, but atleast do something about it instead of just sitting idly by.
