Another FFBM make-over!

clintg: Chuddy Bear made the sheath. You can PM/Email him here. :)

Justabuyer: Wasn't that frustrating just trying to find out where to get the dang screws and standoffs? Or even just the names of the darn things? Sheesh. But now we know. Interchangable handles sounds awesome. ;)

NORCAL HUNTER: I was thinking about that. The locktite but I didn't know which to use. I heard that some are pretty permanant. So the Blue will hold the screws but still allow me to unscrew them?

Thanks to everyone for all the hard work, input, and ideas. We work pretty darn good together. Kinda like the Borg but with kool-aid. :D

Should we make this a link on our blog?

Use the blue....NOT THE RED.......The blue will hold we use it on the bolts on the bikes and harley's vibrate like hell.......with the blue you can still take the bolts out by hand.......The blue will work great.

Tyrkon, are those screws flared like the original one we talked about, or are they "flat"?

Tyrkon--If you have lots of leftovers on combos that work, I'd be thrilled to score a few sets from you. This thread has been highly educational and has got a girl thinking....

You bet. I am going to do a little hunting this weekend at local stores. If nothing comes up I'll order from the suppliers in this thread and let you know.;)

FYI the 1/2" long standoffs are too long for the FFBM with standard slabs. :o

Thanks for the info! Can't you just grind down the standoffs? I assume that they are threaded on both sides down to the middle of the standoff.

Yeah, that's what I did and they worked fine. Also the 3/8" bolts alone were too long for my FFBM, so I had to grind those a bit too.

Hi, sorry I missed your last post. I've got pictures now. I ground the 1/2" standoffs quite a bit and the 3/8" screws a little bit. I've got more stuff on order for other re-handles I'll be doing, and hopefully now I have a better idea for the sizes needed.

On this FFBM I did a very quick and dirty satin with mostly polished spine, and shaped the handles a bit to fit my hand better. These new screws work great. They're not stainless but I just had to have black. :D

Thanks. I don't know if I'd recommend the hex head, they are very small, don't remember what size allen wrench you need. I didn't use any thread locker on mine. If they ever come loose I'll slop on some blue.

I would assume you'll need some thread locker if you do any serious chopping. I've had to use it on my Ranger Knives before, easy solution though...
