i personally don't very much like leather sheaths for survival knives, if you fall into a creek or stream with one your sheath is pretty-much screwed

Not True , I have soaked my Leather sheath more than once and I removed the knife (RC4) and dried her out and no ill effect or is it affects ? LOL :D
 
I've gotten my leather wet and, like TTD says, all you need to do is remove the knife and let it dry. Much like carbon steel, folks have been using leather for a looooooooooong time.
 
you know all those guys storming beaches in the previous wars carrying Ka-bars or what not got wet and most still have them til this day...

well lucky for me i won't be falling in any water! and besides do cows run for an ez up when it starts raining?
 
You know I wish I would have thought of this before I sent the sheath to Mrs. Shotgunner but I could have treated it with some Obenauf's LP. That stuff works great. I use it on all my sheaths.
 
ive gotten multiple leather sheaths wet and have had no prblems with them other thand they got a little hard but
