Another new GEC pattern - 65 Ben Hogan

I do not know about Wikipedia, etc. My memory says Ben Hogan was one of the greatest golfers of all time.

My apologies to all. The Ben Hogan Tidoute story is engrossing. The new knife certainly does not reference Hogan the Golfer.

The golfer lived in the 1900s, while the blade is marked 1865, so I don't think it's the same one :)

thanks arathol i certainly thought they were talking about the great golfer---what a rougish devil this guy was. sounds like he would be in good company with the croonies in washington.--dennis

I so going to get ebony or beaver tail one. I already went and mailed my regular GEC supplier when will he gets those in stock:D

Answer to my inquiry about #65's: They're comming and my wallet screamed and ran away. Its tie between Ebony and Yellow rose but I got two yellowroses and only 1 ebony hnadle knife with majority of my knives being Northfield, I think I am going to get Tidioute Ebony one...

The Northfield models will be end-capped on top of the standard bells / whistles. But I am not sure this pattern needs two bolsters...

My rendition is just a little crude, but I agree about the cap. Not altogether bad, but not an improvement IMHO.

Interesting knife. I like the lines but not so keen on the sparkly scales. I must admit, when I saw the title of this thread I was expecting a jack knife with a blade and divot tool. lol

i have to agree with mamba & willgoy on the barehead. the handle material is larger & the lines seem to flow better & not be so busy.--dennis

Will they make any without a name on it? Personally, Having some 19th century goon's name on the blade is a deal breaker for me.

As a golf addict and Ben Hogan the golfer fan, I too expected something different.
Having seen this ebony beauty and read the man's story, if I can get one I certainly will.

Charlie, I have looked hard, but no pictures of this one closed that I can find. I wonder if they have reduced the underblading on this one?

TSA Knives just posted this one to their blog:

It's not the best angle to see it, but it seems to stick up very slightly.

I like this knife very much, Is very similar to the Case Single Bladed Trapper ( which I think is one hell of a knife ).....this knife in Ebony is a very sleek, awesome looking knife.
Thanks very much for opening my eyes up:thumbup::thumbup:

Man, that gold handle is flashy!

this thing looks great, i was lookin at them a couple days ago at GECs site, but there wasn't a ebony there then... Only way I'd like it more would be with a deep swedged spear point blade, and maybe a deep red bone... barehead of course!

will deff be looking to add one to the stable!

I have to admit that I am really liking this knife. It reminds me of a Case copperhead with only one blade. Kind of like a copperlock without the lock and a better (to me) blade shape. Looks very good to me. - Ed

Nice looking knife. The bolster would provide something of a finger guard, which is a good thing with a handle that's very straight-lined and narrow.

My first thought at that name is still the golfer and his trademark white cap. Maybe that should be the shield - a white cap. ;)
