Another off topic subject

If there is one piece of advice I would give any parents that would be to make sure your kids learn the Spanish language. Whether we like it or not, Bilingual has come to America and those young folks who are fluent in both will be much better off in the coming years as far as finding a job, as well as using it as a pure survival skill.

they are learning whether we want them to are not. While rafting the guadalupe river in central texas my four yr old starts yelling something in spanish and pointing at the bank.....it was a turtle. Between dora the explorer and diago cartoons my kids have a very good grasp of spanish

i don't know. i never followed up.

Hi, Mrs. Shotgunner11 and everyone. I know this isn't the perfect type of post for a newbie but could you please give us a few hints so we could search for this story? I am a 66-yr.-old, married grandfather and live in Van Zandt County. I am extremely interested in the use of firearms for self-defense - especially in TX. Just the date and approximate location would be fine. I am not asking for any names and such.

While I am not yet a RAT owner, I am a long-time factory and custom knife collector and enthusiast.

I would seriously look at that as a good thing, and encourage it. As long as they can speak English fluently, the speaking Spanish should be a high priority for any parent, especially if they want to see their kids have a leg-up on their peers in the future job market.

the mr should be home in an hour. i'll ask him if he knows. i'm sure he'll jump in on the thread when he gets here.

Speaking another language (or more than one) has been a great experience. It enabled me to travel, got me a job, helped me connect with more people, kept me safer in other countries, taught me the English language better (seriously - I never knew what a direct object pronoun was until I learned it in Spanish), and has had many more benefits.

I know that a big population of RAT users are in law enforcement, and this is a huge plus in most job vacancies I've seen in the law enforcement arena...

Terribly sad on the border, on both sides - I have friends that live on the Mexican side, and it's bad for them, too.

I would not mind learning spanish, help in my job bigtime...but for now they understand handshakes ,headshakes and the middle finger ,LOL

Remind me again why we the people want a border fence...... I think this discussion says it all. If only the politicians would listen......

All of the Spanish you will ever need in one easy lesson:

Do you have weapons?
¿Tiene armas?

Drop the weapon!
¡Suelte el arma!

Drop the knife!
¡Suelte la navaja!

Drop it!
¡Sueltelo!

Show me your hands.
Enséñeme sus manos.

Don’t move.
No se mueva.

Hands up!
Manos arriba.

Hands behind your heads.
Manos atrás de la cabeza.

On your knees and cross your ankles.
De rodillas y cruce los tobillos.

I am taking your money and identification with me.
Estoy tomando su dinero y identificación conmigo

And your attractive woman too, you dirty midgets.
Y su mujer bonita también, enanos sucios

Silence! I will kill you all.
¡Silencio! Los voy a matar a todos. Corrected thanks to iggyd.

Take off all of your clothes.
Saque toda su ropa.

Frog march for your lives. I am watching.
Marcha como ranas por sus vidas. Estoy mirando.
