Have heard that Strider is doing better on quality control. I hope so, but it's unlikely I would purchase another from them at any point soon until I hear from a seeming majority of new owners that can say they put them through the gauntlet of testing and no blade play developed.
I have had a few in the past, all of which developed issues. 2 with blade play after slight to moderate use (SNG drop point and SNG tanto. Blade play on one of them was addressed by enlarging the one side of the stop pin). On the other(PT), the lock failed a couple of times just by me putting to much pressure on the back of the blade...no blade play, but I got rid of it due to the lock..I did not expect perfection when I ordered them, but when I was told "hard use", I trusted that and was sorely disappointed.
Up until this point though after having multi sebenzas, thankfully have never had an issue, and have beat the crud out of a couple of them in batonning etc.
There is always the lemon though, just am blessed not to have run into it thus far with CRK. Even after my "abuse" I have never had to engage their warranty, so would not know how that process works.. I appreciat the OP posting this. For those looking to buy a Strider, and are thinking it is a throw anything at it/beast that will stand up to anything/ be your end all folder, maybe:
1) your lucky and get one othose that have stood the test..There are some, just not in my experience, and they are to expensive to give another shot, anytime soon.
2) the QC issues are addressed and the newer models don't have the issues.
Tom T - I can see your perspective, but for me, the only reason I ever got rid of a CRK was because I needed the cash, or wanted a change, never had anything to do with Quality Control, lack of performance etc, and by the way, if I ever traded a CRK for another folder, I regretted it..won't happen again.
