Another thread on the vagaries of buying a GEC knife

Thanks for the explanation Mike. It wasn't necessary. I was just musing out of curiosity. I not pursuing any GEC's at the time (although I did manage to get an 83). I'm not fast enough with the computer so unless I stumble on to one by accident...
I've been having fun with the knives out of Maniago, so that's good :)

No problems. I try very hard to communicate without trying to be a "salesman". But I wasn't born a great communicator. Also, life is taking up more and more time these days. So trying hard to keep my time allocated where it is required and running a business with the remainder.

No more availability problems!

Go buy a Bullet Knife NOW! GO!

Well yeah, they made something like 1,200 of 'em. The last time a run was this big, it was the #97s, and we all saw how they sat around. Almost like most people buy GECs as investment collectibles....and when a bunch are made, they are worth less on secondary....nah, I'm sure it's some other reason. LOL

What!!!??? Sir, you must be talking nonsense!

Just look at all the GECs on the Porch! Users! Every one! 😁

I would also like to note that ownership of this Remington Bullet Knife WILL NOT gain one access to the GEC Super Secret Buyer's Consortium. We simply have to have some standards.

Right???

To be entirely fair, if that knife had been another Maher & Grosh SFO, I'd have been in at that price. Remington, not so much.

I'm a big hater of the Jumbo Trapper pattern so it was an easy pass, but sheesh, $170 and I'm starting to think about next price tier kind of stuff. But yeah, make it M&G and it could be totally different (a different shield for example).

Plus, it's a Drawer Knife that will have a struggle to appreciate in value, not that I personally care. I bought one the of the keychain knives for almost 80 bucks so clearly I don't have much insight to offer on value, haha.

LOOOOL I'm sorry, I don't mean to laugh, but those keychain knives were hilarious clownshoes. There are a ton of them on the 'Bay" right now, in numbers that amount to what has to be at least a fourth of the entire run of those. Comical, really.

more clownshoe-ish than the urban jack and beer & sausage knives? Those were pretty silly 🙃

Absolutely. Those are at least of a decent size so as to be useful, and the Hipster etch is easily Flitzed, leaving an actually useful knife (especially if you have a beard, not that I’d know, ahem). ;)

Exactly. Even if you don't use the additional tools, it's a good, full sized knife.

Those are fair points, but still those hipster shields though…
I do have one GEC “novelty knife”, a rotten banana #85, so I guess I can’t speak too badly 😂

No no, I know, they were way overpriced. But it looks good in my GEC button display, which also contains two of the 06 Templars.

Like I said, don't ask me about what to spend your money on. 😁

Incidentally, I was incorrect, there were actually 2,500 of these Remington knives made apparently.

Maybe gec will start doing larger runs for other models. Seems like this is a solution for more people being able to buy a knife at retail price.
