Wazu, Great knife in beautiful condition. Those knives with the NYK bolsters are hard to find in any condition. Thanks for sharing, Barry

I agree with Barry, the knives with NYK bolsters are very hard to find and in that condition almost impossible. Thanks WAZU for showing that they are out there.

I agree with all that has been said Wazu - a very fine piece !!!:thumbup::)

Re-opened per request of a few respectable members. :)

One wonders who made the cut. ;)

....not sure if I posted the scimitar here before.

My golly, that's fine-- and different. I've thought about this knife often, and returned to this thread to see it, since you first posted it.

Or, as he said:
Wow, that scimitar is amazing! I have never seen anything like it before or even knew something like that was ever made.

Yes, that.

Thanks so much for the pictures, and (Primble for) the opportunity to comment.

Did NYK ever make fixed blades?

I have several Hammer Brand fixed blades, 4 different versions, but I believe they are all from the "Imperial" period.

NYKC Hammer Brand trapper, 3 7/8" closed, dog bone shield. Main blade has some wear but both blades have incredible snap for a knife this old.

This HJ gifted to me from Charlie was made by NYKC in 1902 - 1916 also has a Harrison patented punch

A feast for the eyes Marko - any chance that we might EVER get to see them all in a display case??:confused:;)

From January 15th, 2015:

Thanks Mike and Gev! I just have to wait for the display background that my buddy Primble made for me.

Hurry up Primble! It will be Christmas again before you know it!!:D:D

From February 4th, 2015:

Whoa Marko - you are choosing your NYKC knives wisely - now - where is the display for them ?:confused::rolleyes:

Seems like we heard something about that about two weeks ago, then a week ago, then ...................:confused::confused::barf::barf::D:rolleyes::rolleyes:

From February 7th, 2015:

Display case is getting made this afternoon Mr. Primble! It's about time I got working on it! :D

February 26th, 2015:

Mark, you're posting some fantastic photos here today!:thumbup:

I see why you call the shield above a dog bone shield, but as someone who grew up on a dairy farm with an occasional bull stalking the premises, I think I prefer the alternate label "bullocks shield". :D:D

And I've gotta agree with Primble. I've been holding my breath waiting for your display for quite a while, and I'm running out of air!:confused::eek:

Okay Primble and GT, here's what happened. I started assembling the display case Tuesday February 24th and my batteries died on my screw gun. So I oiled the knives in mineral oil and will complete the display tonight and post pictures.

I hope! :eek::foot::eek:

You are right GT, it is a "bullocks" shield, so once again :foot:

:D:D:D
