First off I thought that rule was in cms but it's inches! Massive knife and some very fine wood, perhaps an exhibition knife?
 
Nice display knife. It’s shown in a salesman’s guide I have. Maybe check eBay for completed auctions.

Sorry My bad! Thank you for in the info. I am just happy its the real deal. A friend died and im helping the widow sell some of his items and this came up in a box.

This is a fantastic piece of cutlery history. Not to mention some of the best jigged bone I've ever held.
Electric cut co would eventually be bought by New York Knife Co. in 1903. This particular knife was likely made between 1910-1920.

This thread is not very active any longer and as the creator of it, I have always felt a responsibility to it, hoping that it stayed on track.
I think it has, but, I'm ready to retire it.
The Old Knives thread remains a place where one can post any of your old knives.
