I ALMOST bought a Kimber but... I know that I'll just carry my G17.
I might look at a Colt Commander.

... its not a 20, its a long slide model, they are all 30 somethings. I have seen a significant number of 22s kaboooom, ALL ammunition related. Glock say don't run cast projectiles, one should not run cast projectiles. That said these we weapons used on a trianing cycle so they were putting HUNDREDS of rounds down range each day. I have shot a good deal of cast projectiles in my M17s over the years and I was religous about the cleaning.

The kbooms stopped in the training guns at the exact time the change to jacketed projectiles was made....go figure... ;)

I've been a Sig P226 guy since 1996..... Now on G17 for about a year... Love it!

I'd love to feel that I could trust a 1911 as much as a G17....
A whole different training too. Lots of work to change " muscle memory", from lack of a better expression.

To all you 1911 guys. Thinking on putting a full length rod in my SR1911. Is there a real advantage to doing it?

Unless you're running a very heavy recoil spring, nope.

Adds extra weight, especially the tungsten ones

Gods gift to the world? Heck no!!!! My better half is........ Better than sliced bread? Definitely !
 
Glocks don't like cast or lead due to the rifling they use and can be finicky with +p ammo especially in 40cal. I love my glocks but they aren't a 1911! I'll always be torn between them.
