any busse fans 1911 fans?

BB is one reputable manufacturer of powerful hunting loads. For their 340gr +p+ load those published velocities tell the story.
5.5 inch factory stock Red Hawk - 1401 fps
7.5 inch factory stock Red Hawk - 1478 fps

That's what I'd load in my 7.5" Ruger SBH Hunter going .454 casull territory, if needed.

Since we are talking 1911s here, this is what I have as woods gun where there is no grizzlies around :) Feels strong and accurate at 1300fps in my WC Hunter .460rowland,

Very nice 1911s in this post. But Wilson's mmmm so sweet.....and what's this 460rowland? I heard it being spoken of but no nothing about it? Sounds pretty cool! I looked into 50gi but didn't excite me but the Coonan 357mag has peaked my interest but this 460 sounds like a cool round.

I'll play. Yes, I still have these.

I like that front sight on that glock looks nice and slim? Are the high rise sights for if you got a can or optic as you do?

Yes, they are the tall suppressor sights from Ameriglo. i have since switched to tritium/white outline in the front, to better index the front sight on the draw. Also from Ameriglo.

For all intents and purposes, the Rowland is a .45 ACP Magnum.

The .460 Rowland case is approximately 1/16" longer than a conventional .45 ACP case but the overall cartridge length is the same, the bullet is simply seated deeper. The purpose of the extended case length is to prevent the high pressure .460 Rowland from being chambered in a standard firearm chambered for the low pressure .45 ACP. This is similar to the relationship between the .357 Magnum and the .38 Special.

There are two key elements to the .460 Rowland concept. The first is a sharp increase in cartridge maximum pressure over the .45 ACP and .45 Super. Maximum Average Pressure is: 45 ACP (21,000 PSI), .45 ACP +P (23,000 PSI), .45 Super (28,000 PSI), .460 Rowland (40,000 PSI). The second is to damp or reduce the velocity of the slide in converted autoloading pistols to manageable levels. The first delivers magnum level performance and the second allows the cartridge to be easily and reliably fired from compact, light weight, high capacity, autoloading pistols.

It's like having a 44 mag, in the size of a 45 acp. Watch what you play with here though, as guns with inferior parts will break. A decent in between is a 45 super. However, those void warranty's in many pistols. The only manufacturers that I know of that don't void the warranty with just those, is Hk, Glock (only the model 21), and a handful of Springfield Armory's, that I remember anyway.

Haha....I got a glock 21 and the conversion was pretty cheap....dude y'all are bad influences ....a bunch of enablers...lol.

And .50GI and .460Rowland are apples and oranges.
.50GI is powerful ".45acp +" which made for self defence against 2-legged creatures, which has raised .45acp to the next level while following same approach as the original (heavy and slow).

Look how it compares to .45 here

If you reload, you can do many things with it to serve exact need you might have. It is also a sweet round to shoot. It makes me smile everytime I shoot my Model1.

.460Rowland is an attempt to bring .44mag perforamce to a 1911. It is a compromise between the power and original platform design and very good at it. I think it is one of the better examples of how a design goal can lead to right engineering choices and then eventually to a working solution. So it indeed works as intended.

This is my go to gun for woods, where there is no need for a casull level of performance (99.99% of cases). In self-defence at home and on the streets though IMO it is over-penetrating risk and therefore in woods it rules :)

And Wilson Combat makes this Hunter model in .460Rowland, so no conversion needed, designed from scratch by Wilson and full Wilson warranty.

Got a Para a few weeks ago just cause it was bronze so it matches a few knives. Then got a Springfield on the way this week just cause it was too good of a deal to pass up.

Dudes!!!! Wow!!! We certainly do not all have the same $$ flow. Hard to get a good handgun under 1000$ (with taxes) here.

Pretty sure 1911 lust is the gateway drug to a Busse addiction...
I own 5 or so 1911s...Wilson, sig, Springfield, kimber, and a pre A1 colt 1911 (1922).

Purchased a rock island 1911 38 super Parkerized finish and another same caliber nickel plated finish which I'm in line for. Hopefully the wait ain't too long.

I 2nd the rock island armory I've shot a few of my buddies and was impressed! I also like the ruger 1911 alot too! So many guns and so little money!

So I could get another glock 21 get the .460rowlan conversion and do my full 10mm upper conversion too?

I bought one my first ria over a year ago. Sold it and regretted it. Great for the price.

I'm trying so hard not to get a 1911 till I can get a chambers custom....but I'm diggin the berretta by wilson combat just gotta do more research and see how much they want.... I can get an Italian made berretta for 5-600 here...so I may go that route....also got a west German walther ppk is on the list too!
