Any chance for a FRN, VG-10 Ladybug?

We could do a Jester handle with a Ladybug shaped blade, but with a large Jester opening hole, ZDP-189?

PERFECT, I'll take a bunch right now! VG-10 would be fine also. I'll be watching this.

Hi Sal,

Read your latest posts regarding keeping the "kick" on the new Delica/Endura's blade. That's one of my good news for the day. If the ZDP Jester+Ladybug project is gonna be actualized, then please kindly consider to keep the "kick" on its blade also, as personally I am using the "drop the blade" method to close my Ladybug all the time too. Just can't imagine what my life would be like if the "kick" is gone on my Ladybug's blade. :) Thank you, sir!

Best,

Ben

if you still take advices for the color of this knife, I would like to tell that it would be cool to have it forest green to match the color of the Spyderco Photon Light :)
don't you think so?

Yep, all we need is SS liners. :p

Really, though, I find it kinda sad that the Ladybug got an amazing update, while the Dragonfly just sits there. :(

Hi Darth,

Ever consider the Lava? It has a similar blade shape with the Dragonfly. Good knife, too.

it's been a long time since I last posted in Bladeforums...

I'll get both the SE and PE ones in my next knives order, along with other spydies (waved D4, SE salt1, and a pair of both UF and diamond 204 rods. a Byrd crossbill too, cheap way to see if hawkbills fit my needs... still gotta wait a month or two for getting the funds though)
There will be no real hard task they'll have to face with me, so VG-10 will hold up more than fine I guess.

BTW, as I said in the thread I wanted to get my hands on a ZDP-189 blade, now that I have my ZDP Caly Jr since 3 months, I see why so many people say it's a great steel! it seems to microchip a little bit when I sharpen it on my sharpmaker (not visible to the eye, only with at least a jeweler's magnifier and good eyes), but apparently stropping on leather with polishing paste takes the chipping away.

thanks for this improvement of the ladybug and for making ZDP-189 knives!

I bought the SS PE Ladybug3 (#081 to be specific) a few months ago because of the upgrades to blade steel and ergos. It has not left my pocket yet and gets used for everything imaginable.

I'd always wanted an Umfaan because of the size and steel but no longer feel the need...thanks for saving me a few hundred bucks!

I actually have a Lava. I mean, I couldn't resist it with all the praise/worshiping. ;) It's a great knife and all, but nothing locks into my hand like the D'fly. :(

Thanx for the kind words, appreciate.

I finally realized that the small models (Ladybug, Jester) was more of an "afi" knife that I realized. Deserving of a hi-perfornace steel. Combined with the fact that we now have (in the byrd line) small inexpensive keychain pieces that are aloso deigned for ergos and use, and the time was right for the next "evolution" of the model.

The Jester handle is fairly ergonomic for controlling the edge, despite its small size and the larger hole in the Ladybug's pointy shape created a nice package.

Colors for the LB3 would be a thought. Maybe a poll?

British racing green (like the ZDP models)
Gray
Pink
Foliage green

Maybe we do them as sprints?

If you can make handles in different colours in the same sprint run, I guess you'll hit more person's tastes, since some want pink, some don't wanna hear about it, same for other colors.
I don't know if it's easy/cheap for you to multiply colors in the FRN you put in the dies, but if it's the case, you may think about it.

(as for myself, any green, FG, BRG, fluo green (like my jester), "plain" green (like the older ladybug/photon light duet), or gray would be cool. anyway I don't consider myself as a reference to everybody's tastes)

I'd like BRG, but from a companys stand point, I think it'd make more sense to do something different, as BRG is pretty darn close to black, which we already have. Something pink, , blue, or green would be uBer. :)

A BRG one for me and a Pink one for my wife. :D Heck, if you do a pink sprint run, I'll most likely get ones for my mom and mother-in-law, too.

Doesn't even have to be ZDP -- I LOVE VG-10. So easy to sharpen...
