I've been on a farmer kick as of late and here is my collection so far. I found a purple one also and I bought it now just gotta pay for it when payday arrives. :p

I picked up a red a while ago. It has been my faithful companion ever since. Whatever else I carry, the Farmer rests in my left front pocket under my wallet.

Right back pocket, next to my wallet is the area a farmer resides and will for a long time.

A Farmer or a Harvester is very high on my wish list. I think I'll go with a Harvester because I like the pruning blade. But I'm not certain of that.

I carried a Farmer for years until I found an Electrician Plus. Same as a Farmer but a small sheepfoot blade instead of the can opener and no split ring attachment knob to dig into your hand during extended use. I keep the sheepfoot razor sharp and the main blade for utility cutting. My old Farmer went to college with my son and he still carries it 5 yrs later.--KV

Got a Farmer with scissors a while back - it is lovely, but a bit bulky

Easily, I prefer the Pioneer Rancher (or the Pioneer Harvester for a saw). Perfect. A good main blade, a pruner, something for poking holes with and something for opening a bottle with. It is 'the' gardener's knife :)

In all truth, my ideal knife on the planet would be an alox Huntsman :D

The Electrician Plus is tempting, but a bit hard to find. I own an Electrician and love it. I'm carrying it today.

I don't really need the saw on an average urban carry day. And if I do, I have a Leatherman Juice CS4 in my work bag. But a Farmer, Harvester or Electrician Plus would be a great addition to my stable. The only thing that bugs me about the Harvester and Electrician Plus is that you lose the can opener/phillips (fair trade for the pruner or electrician's blade, IMHO) but they don't substitute the combo tool for the cap lifter/flathead. If Victorinox would put the combo cap lifter/can opener/flathead on the Harvester or Electrician's Plus then they would have the ultimate alox SAK, IMHO.

I really like the Farmer but also really like the Pioneer Harvester for the pruning blade and the absence of the split ring attachment.

I love the Alox but I picked up a few more Cellidor ones for XMas and have been carrying the Recruit for the last few days - I like the light weight of it.

Thank you. :D

Their side profiles are identical - the same length & height, blade profiles, split ring attachment location but the Cadet is much thinner, probably about 2/3 as thick.

By just holding them, the Recruit feels a little lighter but I could be completely wrong. I will need to weigh them or look up the specs. Either way, not a significant difference, both are very light.

The Cadet has the small nail file where the Recruit has a small blade. And the Recruit obviously has the toothpick and tweezers.

The Alox scales line up better to the springs than the Cellidor. Running my finger across the spine and the front, the Cadet is smooth but I feel ridges on the Cellidor scales where they extend slightly above the liners and springs. The liners on the the Recruit line up well to the springs, so it is only the scales that don't. It is not significant enough to feel it when I press straight down on the spine, only when I run my finger across the spine when changing grips for example.

The Cellidor scales are smooth and polished where the Alox are textured.

I don't really have a strong preference of one over the other but I think I will carry the Recruit more because in use I prefer the slightly thicker profile of the Recruit.

Just asking because I love the Cadet. It's nearly the ultimate for a small folder. I've been considering an Alox Bantam, but I fear it may actually be TOO small .... as in forget you're carrying it or not notice when you lose it type small.

I don't have an Alox Bantam but I have a Cellidor one and it is thicker than the Cadet. I have an Alox Secretary and it is very, very thin. Now you have me wanting an Alox Bantam - thanks. :D

I EDCed my Farmer before I got bitten by the Traditional-Addiction :)

The Alox scales are nearly undestroyable. For a SAK carryier it seems to be the best you can get. Next to Vic Soldier or Wenger Soldat 08.

Kind regards

Those farmers look awesome! I definitely want to get one. I can't find any other color than silver for sale online. Are the colors hard to find?
