Any love for the Farmer?

Those farmers look awesome! I definitely want to get one. I can't find any other color than silver for sale online. Are the colors hard to find?

Definitely harder to find and usually more expensive.

Luckily for my wallet, I actually prefer the looks of the silver alox.

What model SIG is that?

I'm pretty sure that Victorinox no longer makes the colored Farmers.
Ohh I really hope not, I have always wanted to get one of the Alox models in black (preferably the Farmer). I may have to go take a look around and see if I can find one.

Btw, some of you guys have awesome collections, definitely would love to see more pictures like that. :D

I have the Farmer aswell and it's a part of my EDC. I normally would just stuff it in my pocket with a lanyard or something, but recently I put a piece of paracord on it and I carry it around my neck like a neck knife. If I'm running on a short trip to the store or something, I sometimes just throw it around my neck and go. I atleast know I've got several tools on me very easily. I didn't know about the Harvester till this thread, which is sad. I wish I would have got a Harvester because I like the small blade over the bottle opener/can opener. A black Famer would have been nice too. I have the silver one.

Ordered me a "Pioneer Pruner" which is a Harvester without a saw or a Pioneer with a pruning blade instead of a can opener/phillips depending on how you look at it.

Because of this, I may get a Farmer instead of a Harvester. Or not. My point? Well, I'm not sure.

Hows about both. :D

The Farmer is tough not to love:) I carried a Soldier for a good while back in the early 2000's. My wife got me a Farmer back in '06 and it's been in constant EDC rotation. I actually prefer the slight chunkiness compared to the Soldier in my hand. Also, while you don't tend to need a saw often, it's a tough tool to improvise:D

For ultra light weight, I like the Waiter. As a beer drinker, I simply have to have a bottle opener on me. As a person once caught without a corkscrew at a party, I never go to a social function without one.

Great SAK! I only have two Farmers, one regular one red.
If the farmer was available with an additional scissors layer it would be near perfect.
Actually an Alox model set up like the Vic Compact with an added saw layer would be 3 layered perfection!
Or the above fantasy model with another addition of a Vic pliers layer, then i could retire most of my multi-tools!

Big beer guy here too, and the brands I like best come with non-twist off caps. Yes, there are alternatives to bottle openers, but are we civilized gentlemen or thuggish louts? (A: depends :D )

OTOH, you never know when a corkscrew is going to come in handy.
It's like a gun, carried "just in case" but almost never needed. Usually, if wine is present, so is a dedicated corkscrew. However, in decades of carrying a SAK, I have used mine maybe three times to "save the situation" (although more often, "just because." ;) ) On the off chance of being the party hero, I'm seldom without mine. :)

Just this weekend I untied two knots with the corkscrew of my SAK. One was a bad knot in my son's shoe (he's five). And the corkscrew just untied it in seconds. Amazing. I used to be a parisan for the back phillips head instead of the corkscrew, but the corkscrew is winning me over fast.

The Farmer is one of my favourites too. I've got them in red, blue and silver now. Love the alox SAKs!

Love my farmer. I've got a blue, red, and two or three silvers. The blue is the one knife that's stayed in my EDC for years. I'll never take that one out, it's way too useful. The red's a safe queen backup, and the silvers are spread in various kits. One's in my GFs hiking PSK.

I carry mine in an Uncle Bill's Urban Wallet, fit's perfectly in one of those pockets. It's kinda like a pocket sheath; it keeps the farmer stationary and aligned so I can grab the fob easily.
