$65!!!??? That's an outrage! I will put my $20 Casio up against ANY of the watches here and i will even be the first to subject it to the Offical Super Cringe Door Knob Watch Smash Test!

Hey, that and 200M water resistancy... a bunch of alarms.... YEARS of reliable and faithful service... of course it never has "ticked" like a Timex...

BUT I LOVE IT!!

oh... my knife is a 10mm Glock 29 and my backup is Covert Folder....

I just purchased Seiko's new model, SMA003. Stainless steel with a Water Resistant Bar Rating of 20. This thing is great, Auto Kinetic so I never have to set the time, and I never have to take it off. Showers, swimming, nothing bothers it. Might not be a Rolex, but I love it
smile.gif
It also goes very well with a BM910SBTCG.

Glockman,
I'll grant you that your Casio is as good as my Rolex if:

-While being worn daily it continues to run consistently until the year 2018, and

-Despite those 18 years of continuous use and abuse, has a resale value of over $200 at the end of this time.

Allen,
I gotta agree with you about the Luminox. On those rare occasions when the Submariner is not on my wrist, the all black Luminox is definitely there. Those tritium vials are unbelievable. They're like those Cyalume light sticks only they never fade out (well at least not for 25 yrs or whatever). If only Rolex could purchase some rights to that technology.

I have a Tag-Heuer, two-tone, stop-watch and all that stuff I really have no use for, but it sure looks cool

I've got a Tag Heuer Formula 1 Chronograph with a black face and bead-blasted case and band that is a great accessory to my Benchmade 705 and Rekat Sifu. Like knives, I tend to stay in the middle ground-price point arena with gear to ensure quality, but less hearbreak if damaged, stolen, or dropped off a dock accidentally at keg parties.

Professor.

Interesting. Rolex and Luminox. I also have a luminox which is my "beater" and night watch.

Great minds must think alike.

Interesting indeed, I also have a TAG Heuer Formula 1 Chrono in black (BTW is yours old or new Professor, mine is the older version) and I plan to purchase a BM 705 soon. I didn't know anyone else had a TAG F1 Chrono, I have never seen anybody wear one, ever. Until my 705 is pocketside, I will continue to carry my LM PST II in my pocket or LM Wave on my belt when camping etc. I have just become aware of the advantages of a good folder in addition to a multi-tool, I can't wait to get my hands on my 705 for everyday carry.

I also sometimes wear an Original Red Swiss Army Watch with a black/nylon band. Like was said earlier, IMHO the Swiss Army Watches are the ultimate in simplistic yet stylistic high quality watches that are very affordable. For about $135 (below a C note on the web) it can't be beat. TAG's and Rolexes are great, but quite pricey to be worn everyday for everything.

Bucky

TAG Heuer two-tone chronograph that has been my constant companion for the past five years. When I bought this watch, I stopped wearing any other. I am a member of a search and recovery diving unit and have worn this watch on every dive I've ever done, both work & play. It has never failed me.

This needs to be integrated into a knife thread so I'll add: Goes great with a Sebenza!! Especially a wood inlay

i was waiting on a post like it. it seems people who collect beautiful functional things can not stick to only one form of collecting.
add me to the ROLEX fan club[submariner]that i have for 18 years and never faild once.
it also goes well with emerson commander i carry in rotation with spyderco starmate and CS triple action.
the ROLEX is in rotation with a BREITLING MONTBRILLANT ECLIPSE and a BRETLING CRONO COLT. i also had a luminox but some guy was nagging me so much to sell it to him,so i did.. got to buy a new one
wink.gif
i guess.

Cool thread! Seems like folks who appreciate fine craftsmanship look for it everywhere... knives, watches, firearms, writing tools.

I, too, love fine watches as much as I do fine knives. My current favorites are an Omerga Seamaster (titanium & rose gold), plus JLC & IWC. As for writing tools I prefer Parker fountain pens and rollerballs.

So many fine things to enjoy... so little time... never enough money... ah, the joys of life!

Bucky,
I'm not sure how to tell if the Formula 1 is old or new. How do you determine that? I mean, I bought it recently, but it could well be the older model.

It's one tough watch. Unlike Seiko (one of which I also have and love; use it as a dress watch--beautiful timepiece), the stainless links on the Tag's band are machined instead of stamped. They are solid, and have stood up to some really tough conditions so far. I know I probably shouldn't be wearing it for some of the activities I engage in, but I figure if I die doing them, someone might forget to bury me in the Tag
wink.gif
. I might need it where I might be going.

You'll absolutely love your BM705. If you get it and it's got any slop fit and finish-wise (which it shouldn't), send it back right away and let BM make it right. I've been toting mine since it came out in pre-pro last May ('99), and it has been incredible.

Professor.

Professor, if yours is new (which is sounds like it is) it will look something like the watch below.
http://www.newwatches.com/scripts/display.e xe/item?itemid=1550&category=New_Watches&type=&SID=6442787664197051209088198200062415740

If it is a little less "complicated" looking it is an older version, probably not though, they haven't been around for a year or more.
The one I have (the older one) looks like the pic below, except mine is black not navy, with grey/silver not black chronograph circles. Hope this helps
http://www.az.mech.tut.ac.jp/ob/home/kojima/watch/tag1.html

Anyway, I am also looking at purchasing a TAG 2000 Series Chronograph, anyone have one of these?

As far as fine knives go, does anyone carry watch/knife combos that specifically go together. Like say a Rolex Submariner and Sebbie one day and a Swiss Army Original and SAK the next.

Thanks, Bucky

Maybe we need WatchForums.com? I can't afford the Rolex (or I'd definitely have one!).

On my wrist, for me, Luminox and Seiko (I have two of each) and rotate wearing them.

Yes, I do love watches! Actually, timepieces. I collect wall and desk clocks, as well.
