Watch: Rolex Explorer - purchased to replace a TAG with a broken, unbreakable Bezel!!.

Knives: A collection of Emerson CQC6s. Favorite daily carry is an Emerson Commander.

Pens (as this has been added): Dunhill AD2000 Carbon Fibre.

I agree with the comment that once you start appreciating one type of item, you start collecting others.

To expand the thread - does your wife/partner understand your collecting/additction?

Ed

I like bart, am partial to Sinn watches(Sinn Hydro). Superb fit and finish and mine is high tech...Waterproof to 11,100 meters! It has the most clear dial of any watch I know. Love it!

Bucky,

That was my exact watch, face colour and all! I had a choice between the black, a bright yellow, and white. The black seemed the semi-dressiest, so I got it.

Great mid-range timepiece, and it is really shock and abuse resistent too. I have to use the chronograph to time phone calls I make at work to bill for them, so that comes in handy. Should anyone doubt my accuracy, I can just tell them that they time Formula 1 racers with the same watch. How do you like yours? Going for another Tag, eh?

Professor.

Add another satisfied TAG-Heuer owner to the list.
I have a thing about chronographs (analogue stopwatches) and I wear an older TAG steel 2000-series chronograph.

My new watch is a Breitling- the Chrono Colt Ocean (black dial, Diver strap). Maybe you should take a look at www.breitling.com

Professor, I love mine. The only small problem I have had with it is that now the bezel no longer turns. It is my fault, I have probably slammed it into a doorway or wall one too many times and have jammed it permanently into place. It's OK though because it jammed with the triangle on top. I could send it back to TAG to fix it, but giving it up for a while would be too hard. I gave it up once about 2 years ago when I sent it to TAG for a new battery. The only problem with expensive, waterproof watches is that they need to be re-pressurized by the factory to remain completely waterproof and to keep the warranty intact.

I also love it because I have never seen anyone else have one. IMHO it is cool to have a nice watch that seemingly no one else has.

Ed,

No my wife does not understand my collecting. Can't really blame her. She is concerned about the danger of knives (we have two little girls) and watches can be expensive. She doesn't know why I need more than one of each.

Just started getting into watches. Seems more expensive than knives, at least the knives I buy.

I have a Seiko Montmartre, which I like for the unique bracelet and the large hands (a good combination with the Lumibrite). Also, it has a sapphire crystal unlike most of the Seikos that have Sapphlex.

I bought an Invicta Submariner lookalike for my dad (who probably never spent more than $0 on a watch in his life, and thus always had to get a new one every six months) for Father's Day. I wanted a low maintenance waterproof watch that looks nice. He likes it. I got one for myself as well.

There is a Citizen Eco-drive titanium chrono that I like awfully much. Will have to check into it.

Like MrG I carry the Citizen Titanium Eco-Drive Chronograph ( Quite a mouthful, neh?) and I love this watch. Good for seven years without a change of battery.
It will probably last longer than that, but Citizen recommends you send it in for a full service every seven years, so they can clean it and replace the seals and battery.
I have banged this watch into doorknobs, walls, car doors and what have you. Haven't managed to actually scratch the glass yet. It's probably one of the most comfortable watches I have ever worn and the lock is rocksolid. I don't need no stinkin' Rolex

For really roughing it, I've got a Casio G-Shock that will take a pounding and will light up at night like a damn beacon. The nightlight on the Casio is so bright it will actually ruin my nightvision for about 5 minutes! I prefer the quietly luminescent hands on my Citizen. They'll stay lit all night and won't be as bright as Tritium, and they will last longer than Tritium vials will.
The longevity of Tritium is probably why most high-end watches don't use it. It has a halflife of around ten years and after that, they just stop glowing. Regular luminescent coatings will keep glowing alot longer.
I'll stick with my Citizen for dress and everyday and I might buy one of them Nike watches. Damn comfortable on your wrist!
The Casio and BM CQC7 go together as does the Citizen and my BM 710...Then again, the Citizen goes with all my blades

I expect the stuff I use daily to perform and also, when possible, be examples of fine craftmanship and design. I'm trying, with modest success, to get away from the burden, cost and clutter of collecting. Here is what gets regular use and will stay.

WATCH: a Minerva PII Aviation and a knock-around Citizen Automatic 200m Diver.

FOLDING KNIFE: a Small Sebenza and a beater Spyderco Delica.

PEN: Lamy 2000 ball point.

FLASLIGHT: CMG Infinity TASK Light-red

Q-ball and Carnifex: is your ecodrive titanium chrono the one with the blue face? i.e. the middle one of this page

I have been really thinking about this one.

Thanks,

Clay

Yup, Clay, that's pretty much the one. The only difference is that the luminous indicators on my watch are rectangular, not round as on this one. I am curious about their price as it seems much cheaper. Be careful out there. Some watches may be knockoffs!

Carnifex-- Thanks for the heads-up. I think I would like one with rectangular ones better. My only gripe not having held one is that it is that I prefer larger hands as they are easier to read both day and night (more area for luminous paint). That's why I like my Seiko

Good to know the luminous paint is of hogh quality. They are not all made equally.

One other question: is the crystal sapphire?

Thanks,

Clay

Hey CD! I also happen to be a proud owner of that Ti Eco Drive chronograph. For my whimisical review, go to www.timezone.com and then click on review. I also have another one at www.watchzone.net This particular model doesn't have a sapphire crystal, but there are some. Take a gander at www.higuchi-inc.com and you'll find some there. They only sell Japanese models though...

Wouldn't it be sweet if you could afford to wear a different watch and knife combo everyday? Like one day an Omega Seamaster Pro and an Elishewitz Diablo. Then the next a Panerai with a Crawford Janus, and then a Breitling with a Viele, etc. Sigh...
