Anyone making ay progress on their Knife in the Hat knives? No spoliers, please, but just in general terms, how is the work coming along? I haven't even appplied a single brain cell to it yet. I just finished two other knives which took a lot out of me. I've decided that my first big purchase when I can save money toward it is going to be a grinder. Hand files are fun and all, but the idea of finishing a knife from start to finish in a handful of hours sure does appeal to me. Anyway, I haven't even come up with a concept yet, but we do have until March 19, so I'm still in the safe zone!

I plan on starting after the holidays. I'm not sure what I'm going to make yet. I've been busy with knives for the Chesapeake show plus I have 7 custom orders I need to work on. The KITH will be worked on in the mix.

Steve, Steve, Steve....that's not what I wanted to hear. ;)

I wanted to hear "the damascus blade is finished and the mokume is coming along nicely!" :D

I've been designing and practicing my grinds. I'm also working on a little something else at night when the wife is asleep and I have to be quite.
I've already destroyed one project  If I'm lucky this project will still be in one piece when I'm done.

Seriously Steve, no pressure...have fun with it, I am.

shgeo is kickin'it!! :D

I've tried twice to get a clue from my recipient with no luck. We'll see what he wants. Be it hawk or knife ?

Make a knife for him and send me a hawk. Didn't I mention that part of it? Everyone has to make two knives: one for the recipient on the list, and one as a kickback to me for all my hard work in organizing this thing. Sorry, I must've left that out of the original rules.

Mark,
If it were me, I would go for the hawk. I got to see and handle the pipe hawk at Chuck Burrows house. It was very impressive.

Of course you never know what someone else wants.

Hey Nelson - I like the sound of that!! I havent started but I have plenty of time. Just havent decided what I want to make. A current design or something different. I have 1 new design drawn up that I am sure will be a repeat design. Mark was too kind to send me a large skinner pattern last month. I may madify it and have it be a colaboration...sort of ;)

I have something special for Blgoode. Yep somewhere between a Bird and Trout knife and a Himalayan Imports khukuri. Its a fine line mind you but I feel up to the task.I am sure that Brain will find it errrr special :p

As soon as I buff off the 'Made in Pakistan" marking, mine will be ready to ship.

You can buff those off?! Cool I've always just put the pricetag over it on my knives :D

Dont worry Steve I got ya covered...

I'm trying to find a Chinese frog toe file to put my Mark on and send it. :footinmou :D :D

I just made a list of what I need to get done in the shop, and its surprisingly long.Christmas presents aren't quite done yet, and I got called to work tommorrow which is a good thing (pays by the hour! unlike knife makin ;) or school which charges by the hour :grumpy: ) I'm hoping to have it all whipped before I go back to school on the 3rd or whenever. I'll probably start my KITH knife sometime soon though and work on it at the same time as some of the other ones since they are pretty much the same.

Haha, Shappa said if he's lucky his project will be in one peice when he's done. More like if I'M lucky his project will be in one peice when he's done :p :D

I don't know....this is looking nice. I just might keep it and do something else for you...or not. I've got lot's of ideas. :D
Half the fun of this ....

is pulling Matt's chain. :p

yeah well.....Steve told me I don't even have to make him a folder to find out where you live, a neck knife will do the trick :p

I started on mine , but got really busy at the store with Christmas, so I will finish it up after the holidays. Also getting in some last minute flyfishing at some of the rivers here in Maine that are not closed to angling yet.
