Any sensible reason for BM to discontinue the 806D2

806 was my dream for nearly half a year, and just at the time I ordered it, it was discontinued, so I had to buy smth. instead, I`ve chosen Chinook II (strange, isn`t it?). :) And now I have some phantom capabilities of bying this knife, but realized, that I need something that can cut really good. So, 806 is not in my wish-list anymore... Although, it would be interesting to find it "resurrected" in smth. like 810 :)

OT again kinda.. but how does D2 and M2 steel differ?
I have a mini AFCK round hole in ATS-34 I just aqquired in a trade and I love it.. but wish they had an axis locking mini in D2 or M2 steel with the different clip positions.. I have not held a full size Afck but have read that they are pretty big .. This Mini is right on in the size I like to carry ..

One gripe I had was the clip was a bit too big and kinda stuck up around the liner release finger groove area and dug into my finger.. So I took my trusty Dremal and contoured the clip to match that of the finger groove area.. feels alot better and looks cool too..

Also another Gripe I had that I fixed was the back strap of the blade where the thump ramp meets the stop bar, it would pinch my finger because it was more of a sharp boxy end profile of the blade... So again I just used a barrel sander and slightly rounded this area and polished it to match that of my EMERSON mini CQC7.. And No more pinches.. and looks like it was meant to be this way ..

Do any of these minor problems filter over to the full size 806?

No, when it is configued tip up. Yes, when configured tip down. (In regards to clip)

The tang problem disappears with the axis lock.

I love my 806 D2 . It has been my EDC for over a year and a half. Super smoth axis and great steel too. Maybe I should have bought an extra
