Any Ti framlock fans interested in the ESEE Folder coming Dec2010??

Not for me. To many gimmicks imho going on with the knife. I want a designed blade like that, could be frame lock or liner lock but the cut out on the top of the knife, blade lenght, and what is it a nut tightener on the frame of the knife? Not for me thanks. keepem sharp

There are actually two limited edition version of HEST folder that can be ordered from dpx sales and regular production model, that can be ordered from online dealers. If you follow the link, you can see pictures of all three of them posted by Jeff http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=790954
Top one is regular production, middle one is sterile and bottom one is mr.dp. They look smaller on those pictures, then they really are. Jeff must have big hands or something:)
For those with HEST fixed knife its easier to see how big it will be, because its exactly the same size and shape.

OK, I just went and read through the entire thread. I thought I was ordering a sterile version in the green. If thats not possible then I guess I can live with the factory logo on the blade but there is no way I'll carry around anything marked with that juvenile skull thing.

It's way too late and I'm tired. These late shifts are killing me. I'll sort it out in the morning.

Middle one is sterile? Got a big old thing on the handle. We had a saying in the USMC for things like this and started with "cluster"...I support all of my fellow knife brothers' tastes in knives but the only knife besides my 3 Izulas, RC-3 MIL, Junglas that I'd consider buying would be Tomso's Izula folder w/o goofy graphics. Rock on you nutty HEST lovers! :D

I forgot to add that I really hope they keep with the program and make this thing with just the barest minimum of markings anywhere on the knife.

I'm telling you guys, if it shows up at my door with any of those juvenile graphics l'll be sending it back so fast it'll make their heads spin.

Tomso,

I sent you an Email.

Thanks,

BP Green

You can send it to me and I'll give it a good home :D:D:D

Sorry, should have mention here that on sterile there will be no logos. That one is a prototype. So no graphics anywhere, not on the blade, not on the g10, not on the clip... the other version, the one with pattern on the blade, that one will stay the same. btw, on regular production run that "mr.DP" skull also won't be there, those were just on protos as a test.

The amount of whining that that little Mr. DP logo causes is astounding. Especially since it has been stated multiple times on different areas of the forum that it will not be on the final product.

You'd think that this was the only folder out there available for purchase this Xmas season...

I agree it is kind of silly. It will be a user for me so the Mr. DP logo isn't a big deal.

i completely agree.

and if one is trying to order one now, my assumption is that it won't be either of the LE's (the bottom two in the picture) and that it will be the production run (top knife in the picture) and it WONT feature the Mr. DP logo on the handle.

That means the ONLY knife with graphics on is the Mr. DP LE. Which had to be specifically requested when pre-ordered.

I can't see how the logo would be a show stopper with such a nice knife offering either. I preordered two and didn't care about the logo then but I'm happier knowing there won't be one. Either way for me!

Bottle opener ruins it for me. Who seriously needs a bottle opener on their knife? The hex, glassbreaker and wire stripper are all nice touches but the bottle opener makes it look too mall ninja/cheesy.
If you had a HEST folder, which of the following seems more likely to do...

Tighten a nut
Break glass
Strip wire

or

Open a beer bottle

hmmmmmm...

You don't need a special cutout in your blade to get a beer bottle open. You can do it with practically anything. IF I were ever to own this knife, would I ever use the glass breaker? Probably not. The nut wrench? Doubt it. Wire strippers? Yea, I could see using those in a pinch. Maybe I'm biased because I rarely drink but the bottle opener really seems to cheapen the knife to me.

I dont plan on using any of those features on the knife either, but they are good to have just in case. Im not a big fan of the bottle opener either. I don't think its a weak point on the blade.

Hehehe, for me, I know when I'm going to strip wires so I have wire strippers. But a beer opportunity might surprise me and, oddly enough I don't carry a bottle opener, but I do carry a knife! :D

To those of you that don't understand what all the whining about the graphics is about. Let me try to explain where I'm coming from.

I want the knife for duty carry. I may very well have occasion to use the glass breaker and the wire stripper/cutter; and when I'm off I may very well have occasion to use the much maligned bottle cap opener.

What some of you guys fail to realize is that some of us actually do use these things in a professional capacity and image where the public is concerned does count for something.

I don't have much use for a knife festooned with graphics that look like they belong on a 14 year old's skateboard. Despite the opinion of some who dont have those concerns. Appearance does sometimes count for a lot.

I also understand that they wont all come that way now. Thank you to all of you who helped. I appreciate it.

At first i did not like the bottle opener but the more i think about it the more i like it.

I know one thing and that is it will be good for pulling out the hot grill rack when i am grilling my sausages and i cannot find the oven gloves.

I can open beer caps with it.

I can wave open the knife with it.

I can pick up hot pots from the campfire with it

And i am sure there are plenty of other uses.

the bottle opening cut out doesnt bother me much... what irks me is the wire breaker cutout which ive seen break off on the hest fixed blade (they couldve got rid of this all together and it wouldve been a very attractive knife).

ive used my waved delica on numerous occasions to open beer bottles. sure you can use anything but its not as badass lol

Fair enough. However, you should know that there is no wire breaker on the folder, as the D2 blade is not designed to handle that type of stress.

I wonder though, why you would be taking your knife out of your pocket and showing it in detail to the general public. Seems that even if there were some subtle graphic burned into the handle, it would be covered by your hand when you used the knife...

As for what the designer of the knife has to say about the logo...

You come across as uninformed and rude to imply that we who like the logo are "juvenile" or somehow otherwise akin to tasteless "14 year olds".

At any rate, it is a non-issue, because it will not be on the knife. Except, that is, on my Mr. DP limited edition #22. I shall be the envy of all skateboarding adolescents around! :D

Again. On the folder, it is just a choil. There is no wire breaker on the folder.
