Any Ti framlock fans interested in the ESEE Folder coming Dec2010??

Yikes, I thought I had read all the previous posts. Apologies Tom. I haven't been following knife news nearly enough, unfortunately, but I had a bad feeling as I posted that the Izula Folder is not currently being pursued. Too bad, in my opinion, because it is such a clean and awesome concept and would appeal to a lot of people who can't reasonably carry a fixed blade on a day-to-day basis.

I'm on an order list for the HEST folder in the mean time though, that should be awesome too.

How the hell can anybody say great things about a knife that no consumer has actually held. Other then hype or price tag, what are these assumptions based on?

I base my assumptions on past ESEE knives. ESEE makes a extremely high quality, hard use knife with a lifetime no questions warrenty. I own a Izula and RC 5 and they are both well built knives for the money. I know ESEE will replace the knife if I happen to break it. I know the HEST folder will be a great knife and if/when they make the Izula folder it will be a great knife too.

Admittedly I haven't read through this entire thread; just sort of skimmed through the highlights while watching tv.

I like the looks of the knife and the basic overall concept but those graphics leave me cold. They are definately a deal breaker for me. If they do put out sterile version I'll pick one up for sure.

I don't agree with the premise but I understand the basis for you reasoning. Btw I own 2 Izulas and a 6

However, Its not an ESEE knife, Its not covered with ESEE's warranty, and its not manufactured by Rowen or using ESEE's usual 1095 (which they heat treat well I hear) For all intents and purposes ESEE is just marketing it. My feeling for the company aside, I don't like the idea of 'selling' their name and calling it a collaboration.

Before anyone here attacks me...take it down a notch and think about it.

Again, thank you for offering your help. I met some of the kindest people on this forum, and i count you as one of them.
And i really appreciate all the good things everyone here had to say on Izula folder design. Means a lot to me.

The way i see it, if you like HEST, you will like HEST folder. Its the same size, shape, and its made by Lion Steel which most consider if not all, to be top notch knife maker. So a lot about this knife is already known, even if people didnt get to hold it yet. And i don't think they will be disappointed. It really is well made and for me,it feels even nicer in the hand because of thick frame lock and g-10 and its surprisingly light and very well balanced.
And people say great things about knifes they didn't get to try often, be it HEST folder, ZT550, Spyderco or some other company. Its just like i can tell you i absolutely love Ferrari, even though i never drove or sat in that thing.

Your right, people do talk about knives they don't own but probably shouldn't unless the topic is on the looks/design/materials and certainly not in regards to quality. If everyone parrots what they hear from the next guy it does little more then devalue the exchange of information.

I can say I love Ferrari, but to tell my buddy (or bladeforums members) thats its a great car is worthless.

If it was made I would buy at least one.

You cant just go and move the pivot without messing up closed position and there aren't much options how it can be closed, but I was well aware of all the mistakes you mentioned from the get go and they were all fixed quite some time ago. I significantly improved the framelock, thumb stud resting on the handle, 4 way clip...Its unfortunately still on the back burner, but once its out, it will not have any issues you pointed out.

Pics? Or do we want to keep the new look under wraps until the project is closer to becoming a reality?

The graphics are only on the Mr. Dp LE. Both the sterile LE and the first production run feature no graphics.

EDIT: i think the first production run features a DPx logo on the blade, no skull on the handle though.

Thanks LJ. I guess I'd better get over there and put my name on that list. . .

Knife is too small for me 7.6 inches overall....no thanks.

If it was 8.5+ I'd probably buy it. Especially at that price

You need to hurry to get your name on the list...they should be ready next month sometime

Done deal. . . C'mon December!! :D:thumbup:

Now if Kershaw Man gets back to me and informs me that I made the list for the ZT 0551, I'll really be set.

I forgot to add that I really hope they keep with the program and make this thing with just the barest minimum of markings anywhere on the knife.

I'm telling you guys, if it shows up at my door with any of those juvenile graphics l'll be sending it back so fast it'll make their heads spin.

Tomso,

I sent you an Email.

Thanks,

BP Green

Hey BP green. I dont know which version you ordered, but if its LE, make sure to let them know you want sterile one.

Tom,

Maybe I'm missing something here but as far I could tell there is just one version offerred on the link posted by the OP. I just clicked on the link then followed the steps and ordered it.

Regardless, I was planning on calling them tommorrow to verify everything anyway.

There are actually two limited edition version of HEST folder that can be ordered from dpx sales and regular production model, that can be ordered from online dealers. If you follow the link, you can see pictures of all three of them posted by Jeff http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=790954
Top one is regular production, middle one is sterile and bottom one is mr.dp. They look smaller on those pictures, then they really are. Jeff must have big hands or something:)
For those with HEST fixed knife its easier to see how big it will be, because its exactly the same size and shape.
