Any Winkler fans?

Looks like the Huntsman and the new Defense Dagger are officially part of the lineup now, so hopefully we'll start seeing them across the dealer network at some point. And they are available to order directly from Winkler now as well.

Not familiar with his older works but my winkler has been my bring everywhere for anything utility knife for the past few months now, it’s an extremely durable knife well made and thought out knife that I would trust my life to. I originally bought it expecting to be disappointed, it was a very spur of the moment thing and I actually forgot I had ordered it until I was opening the box. Amongst all the amazing brands and types of knives I own, my winkler really stood out as special from the moment I held it in my hand with absolutely 0 expectations of what to expect.

My only gripe is that it came from the factory with a pretty steep grind on the secondary bevel that as soon as I took it down to 15 DPS turned the knife into a great slicer for its thickness. Fit and finish is almost perfect with exception to the spine where the file work on either corner of the spine is pretty asymmetrical. A bit disappointing but not enough to make me return it.

The coating wears off fairly easy but does so in a way that makes the knife look better with use, it’s a pretty subjective tale but I think the coating wears pretty nicely.

The sheath is the best in the industry IMO, you either love it for its aesthetics, silent draw, lack of scratching the knife and retention, or hate it for its bulk and tendency to absorb water.

For me, Daniel Winkler seems like a stand up guy, never heard anyone with a single bad word to say about him, he even took the time to personally answer a lot of my really stupid questions over the phone a while ago and by all accounts is a really approachable and good dude, which is something to appreciate in an industry full of shady characters and downright scumbags. I don’t think it’s fair to call him a sellout just because he found success.

Oh and his heat treatment of 80CrV2 is spot on, for a low alloy steel, I can really put it through its paces of chopping and wood carving throughout the day and end the day with a knife that’s still paper slicing sharp with no microchipping whatsoever despite the 15 DPS edge I put on it.

But yeah that’s why my winkler is my last fixed blade for a long time, I’ve used and abused it from 29 palms in the Mojave desert to the woods around Quantico, Virginia and in my girlfriends kitchen. It’s a knife I can vouch for and have really come to love over the past half year or so. That’s not to discount your negative experiences but to explain to a dude who’s been out of the knife game for a bit why winkler has only become more popular over the years, potential quality control issues aside.

I just bought a Huntsman last week, it's a great knife, perfect size for edc imo.
Could you please post pictures with the Huntsman next to other well known knives? And also pictures from top to see the handle thickness. I would like to have an idea of the size of the handle before ordering one.
Thanks!

Can someone post some comparison pics with the Blue Ridge Hunter and Belt Knife. I've got the belt knife and love it, but it's too big for my EDC, was wondering how much smaller the Blue Ridge is.

Yes, I am a fan!

I am a screaming teenaged girl at a Beatles concert?

No.

I don't have one. I want one. Trying to pick the right model. Just want something that makes my campsite fear and respect it.

Don't have a price limit, as are other blades...

I'm a life long knife enthusiast, I've owned, bought, and sold dozens and dozens of knives over the years. Everything from Spyderco, Hinderer, Strider, Randall, Carter Cutlery, etc, the list goes on and on. The only knife I have that I've never even considered selling is my Winkler Belt Knife, I don't know why, there's just something about it. It really feels like the blade I'd want if the world fell apart and my life depended on it.

Yeah it's weird. People always talk about soul and for an inanimate object that seems impossible but these knives have soul.
